Peace is dynamism.
Peace is generosity.
It is right and it is duty.
-Oscar Romero

Join us this Sunday as we gather in a dynamic, peace filled community!   We will be having a prayer of appreciation for Janet Taylor and her years of coordination with hot meals.  And join us for our congregational meeting directly following the 10:30 a.m. service!
GATHERING OPPORTUNITIES
Prayer of Appreciation for Hot Meals Coordinator Janet Taylor - Sunday we will say a special prayer of appreciation for Janet Taylor for her many years of dedicated service to God and God's people as the Hot Meals Program Coordinator. We are so thankful for her tireless vision, heart, and attention to detail.

“Vision and Leadership” Congregational Meeting - Sunday - Calling all members! Our annual meeting is at 11:45 a.m. in Maring Hall. It is a great moment to celebrate the ministry that has taken place over the past year, and lift up the goals we have going forward. We will be voting to approve a resolution regarding undesignated bequests. We will also be electing our council members and sharing a financial update. We invite you to reflect upon two questions we will discuss at the meeting:
1. One primary way God is blessing your life/your family’s life through Pilgrim is…
2.One untapped or underutilized opportunity for us to extend our mission to the world is… Thank you in advance for your participation!

PREPARE (GROWTH) OPPORTUNITIES
Prayer Time - We invite you to join us Saturday mornings at 8:30 a.m. at the Parsonage for a time of prayer... it is so renewing!

Increasing Connection Through Caring Conversations: Strategies for Caring Conversations - A presentation on how to be a supportive and caring   listener will be offered to the entire congregation on Sunday March 5th, with the time and place yet to be determined (either between services or after the late service). The presenter will be Bianka Hardin, PsyD and Licensed Clinical Psychologist, and Pilgrim member. The program is intended to help all of us in our communication with partners, children, family, friends and neighbors, as well as those we might be visiting through the Care Ministry, and is especially needed in this time as we try to address the fears and heal the divisions in our communities.

“Renewing Leadership Day Retreat,” Saturday, March 18th with Pastor Stephen Bouman - How is the Spirit inviting each of us to be renewed in our work and to reimagine our future? Join us on Saturday, March 18th from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, 1650 West Foster, for our “Renewing Leadership Retreat”. Our facilitator will be the Rev. Stephen Bouman, Director of the Domestic Mission unit of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America since 2008. Previously, he served as Bishop of the Metropolitan New York Synod and has done extensive work equipping Lutheran Schools throughout the country. We are thrilled that he can be with us! Refreshments and lunch will be provided. Please RSVP to Renee at churchadmin@pilgrimchicago.org

Explore the Bible—Would you like to learn more about the Bible? Discuss spirituality and faith in a non-threatening, non-judgmental context? We invite you to join us at 9:15 a.m. in Maring Hall as we read and discuss the Bible together… there is NO EXPERIENCE necessary.

New Member Classes—What does ‘Lutheran’ mean? How can Pilgrim help me and my family grow in faith? What does it mean to become a member of Pilgrim? If you’re at all curious about any of these questions, please contact the Church Office Administrator, Renee, at churchadmin@pilgrimchicago.org

SENT TO SERVE
Next Week, February 5th, is Souper Bowl Sunday! We will be collecting offerings for anti-hunger efforts in Soup Pots as part of a nation-wide movement to combat hunger... Please consider coming with a special offering!

Mission Interpretation—Don’t forget to check the latest memo posted on the Mission Bulletin Board at the cabinet in the entry hall. Also, take a look at earlier memos, collected in a notebook on the table in the narthex. Two items of interest include the memo dated 11/15/16 "Reflections from the Church on the Election" by Bishop Eaton and a statement from LIRS (The Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service) reaffirming the church's mission to protect and welcome refugees.

Coffee Hour is still looking for a family or person to do the following dates:  March 26th and July 2nd.  Please let Anne Barsano cbarsano@aol.com  know if you can help on these dates. Thank you!
