Subject: The Reformation- More than History

View this email online if it doesn't display correctly
Dear Friends,

Join us this Sunday at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.!

This fall is a chance to celebrate history as we acknowledge the 500th Anniversary of Luther nailing his 95 theses to a church door in Wittenburg, Germany. However, this fall is also a chance to allow God to reform US.

This process is not easy. There are moments of tension and disequilibrium. But Jesus is with us, and comes to us with parables like Matthew 20:1-16 and give us a whole new perspective.

One of welcome.
One of grace.

And as we grow in trust in the One who welcomes us, our faith grows and we are set free to be the people, and the church, we're meant to be.

Join us as we celebrate reformation! As we lift up testimonies of faith from El Salvador! As we dive into the Word at 9:15 a.m.!

See you Sunday!

I'd like to invite you to our upcoming pizza dinner and confirmation interest meeting on Wednesday, September 27th at 6:30 p.m. at the Pilgrim Parsonage, 4332 N. Winchester Ave. (just north of Pilgrim). Coming to this info meeting does not commit you to the program. Calling all women to attend a WELCA meeting - On October 15th, the director for membership of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, will present an informational meeting about the organization with the intention that we may want to consider starting one here at Pilgrim. Currently, Lutheran women gather in more than 7,000 locations for service, study, advocacy, fellowship and more. WELCA embraces all kinds of ministries that support the mission of mobilizing women to act boldly on their faith in Jesus Christ. Join us at noon on the 15th in the Annex.

Opening the Treasure Kick-Off Wednesday, October 4th - What is Opening the Treasure? It is a an experience for children, youth, and parents/caregivers together to grow in faith together. This year, we will be using Rev. Dr. Rich Melheim's Course, "Holding your Family Together." Researched, taught and tweaked in 150 cities from the US, to Korea, to Canada to India, the course will help you solidify a family faith revolution into the heart of church and the hearth of your homes in simple, beautiful and powerful ways in 6 weeks. It will transform churches as it transforms families into faith communities who share highs and lows. Please join us at 5:30 p.m. at the church parsonage at 4332 N. Winchester to learn more.

Exploring the Bible - Join us on Sundays starting today at 9:15 a.m. for "Explore the Bible" Class that is open to people of all backgrounds and levels of familiarity. We are working very hard to be able to send out giving reports after the third quarter, in early October. We apologize for any inconvenience, and appreciate your patience.
