Subject: Saving Time

Pilgrim Announcements
March 8th, 2015

Dear Friends,

Our big auction and annual party is this Saturday night! Please come!

We lose an hour of sleep by Sunday morning... good Sunday to skip church, right?

NO! Every week there is a need to dedicate a time for thanks, praise, Word, and peace... in community.

Every week there is a rumbling in our soul to come home to God.

Do you think Scott Hamilton, our guest speaker last week, who drove 54 miles with 11 members of his family to be in church with us last week, would say it's a good Sunday to skip church?

By the way, if you weren't in church last Sunday, please read his testimony... And, if you WERE in church last Sunday, please, read his testimony by clicking HERE. You can also see the note he wrote to himself HERE

Let's keep the momentum going... See you soon!

Join us for worship this Sunday at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

GATHERING OPPORTUNITIES
Lent at Pilgrim 2015 ‘Living Prayers’
Join us for a wonderful time of growth as we learn to be "Living Prayers" in these 40 days of Lent!

Each Wednesday, we gather at 6:15 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. for a community dinner for all ages, followed by an interactive prayer/service activity that will draw us closer to God, to one another, and the world!

Join us as we do a “prayer walk” this week. We will split into small groups to walk around Pilgrim Church and School, taking the opportunity to pray for each classroom and each ministry.

We also recommend a book for your Lenten Journey: Learning to Pray Again: Peace and Joy Through an Ancient Practice  by Michael Rinehart on Amazon.com, either as an ebook or as a hard copy as we explore being "living Prayers" throughout Lent.

Story of Love at Chicago Tabernacle
From son of the congregation Jake Sparlin: “On March 30, 2007 this production completely transformed my life from the inside out - and I don't say that loosely.   Eight years later, I still look back on that night as the greatest and most important moment of my life.  I've been involved in the production ever since, and I'm as excited as ever that it will be here in just a few weeks. PLEASE - do whatever you can to make it out. It really is one of the most creative and captivating live productions you may ever see. “

THIS SUNDAY
Prayer for this Week
Holy God, through your Son you have called us to live faithfully and act courageously. Keep us steadfast in your covenant of grace, and teach us the wisdom that comes only through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Readings
Exodus 20:1–17(NRSV)
After escaping from slavery, the Israelites come to Mount Sinai, where God teaches them how to live in community. The ten commandments proclaim that God alone is worthy of worship. Flowing from God, the life of the community flourishes when based on honesty, trust, fidelity, and respect for life, family, and property.

1 Corinthians 1:18–25 (NRSV)
The word of the cross is pure foolishness and nonsense to the world because it claims that God is mostly revealed in weakness, humiliation, and death. But through such divine foolishness and weakness, God is working to save us. The center of Paul's preaching is Christ crucified.

John 2:13–22 (NRSV)
Jesus attacks the commercialization of religion by driving merchants out of the temple. When challenged, he responds mysteriously, with the first prediction of his own death and resurrection. In the midst of a seemingly stable religious center, Jesus suggests that the center itself has changed.

ALUMNAE: Come to the 2015 Auction!!!
Do you know any Pilgrim School Alumnae??? Pilgrim wants to get the word out to all Alumnae and their families about the totally retro cool "Those 70's Show Auction" on March 7th. Please reach out to any Alumnae you may know and direct them to the Pilgrim Facebook page or the Pilgrim Church and School website to
find out more information, purchase tickets, donate an item to the auction or simply to reconnect to the Pilgrim Community!!! On that note of re-connection; Pilgrim is trying to develop an Alumni association and we are in need of your help.  If you are a graduate, parent or grandparent or friend of a graduate and know their current address, please contact our Ministry Associate, Bilise Bekele at bekele.pilgrim@gmail.com . If you don't want to divulge their address, then please let the graduate know Pilgrim wants to reconnect so that they can send it to us.  Thank you!

Gift cards will be sold Sundays, March 8th and 15th, Thursday, March 12th (in the school office 8:30-10 a.m. and at Market Day pickup that afternoon), and Mondays, March 9th and 16th, because of Spring Break. Try to pick up some cards before traveling or purchasing Easter goodies.
Market Day
Pilgrim needs 30 orders per month to keep our rep from Market Day and this is a hard month with the auction on the day MD orders are due. This is also BONUS DESSERT month, with Pilgrim earning 30% of all dessert orders if we sell 100 desserts. So, please choose this month to make your first order- a dessert doesn't take up much space in your freezer. Ask your friends and family if they want one! Order one to donate to our Hot Meals Program!  Place your order online or bring it to the office by Friday, March 6th.   All the desserts will be delicious and fresh tasting for your Easter dinner. This is also the first month for FRESH PRODUCE from Market Day. You can see which produce is included in the order by signing in online and clicking on the name of the item.  A description will follow. The Market Day team will be ordering a box and will check it for quality, etc.  Pickup is Thursday, March 12th, 3- 4:30 or at PAS or on Sunday, March 15th (for church members). Please contact Anne Barsano at 773-472-6037 or cbarsano@aol.com with ??. Remember, Pilgrim earns at least 10% of your order!
