"Lord, teach us to pray."  - Luke 11:1

The disciples could have asked Jesus to teach them many things: how to preach... how to heal... how to turn water into wine (now that would be luxurious and lucrative!)

But they asked him... "Teach us to pray."    And in unveiling what we call the Lord's prayer, we all have access to an amazing gift- a living connection with God.

Join us at 9:30 a.m. as we explore prayer, bless our El Salvador Mission Team, and... bring your pets!  It's bring your pet to church Sunday... you'll see why!

Tending to our Souls in Emotional Times—We are in a difficult and anxious moment in our nation's history. Amidst the violence, fear, and mistrust, how do we tend to our souls? And what can we do about the suffering we see in the world? Dr. Bianka Hardin and Pastor Johnson will be creating a time and space in late August for reflection and discussion on these two questions. Please stay tuned for more details. Our Bishop, Rev. Elizabeth Eaton of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, has issued a statement with her thoughts and some resources that can be found here: http://blogs.elca.org/advocacy/together-grieve-church-nation/

Partnership with CLEF Nets Pilgrim Security Upgrades—The ChicagolandLutheran Education Foundation (CLEF) has announced that Pilgrim is receiving a $55K of a grant from a private foundation for security upgrades in CLEF schools. Improvements for Pilgrim include four additional security cameras, new lighting in the playground areas, 12 new basement windows, a new Hot Meals exterior door and 11 new interior doors to secure the Annex and Maring Hall.
