GATHERING OPPORTUNITIES
Pilgrim Dads’ 5th Annual Pancake Breakfast, December 6

Click Here and sign up! www.SignUpGenius.com/go/20F0E4DAEA92FA4FE3-5thannual. We need volunteers from 7am until 3pm. We also need griddles, if you have one that you can bring or let us borrow. All proceeds will help support the school’s technology fund. Please contact Glenn Williams at gtwilliams67@gmail.com or Pete Gillespie at Peter.J.Gillespie@comcast.net for details.
Advent By Candlelight:   Wednesday, December 9th
Join us for something new and beautiful this year! We will be having a one-time mid week gathering in the Spirit of Advent on Wednesday, Dec. 9 from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. We will be making homemade Christmas cards for the sick and shut ins, we will enjoy a potluck dinner, and sing some hymns and say some prayers by candelight. For more information, please talk to teacher, organist, and choir director Mr. Knuth
Christmas Decorating
Christmas miracles are great, but unfortunately have never yet included those giant Christmas trees floating themselves down from the storage loft, nor sorting out their own wiring. Please join us Saturday, December 5 at 9:30 a.m. to decorate the sanctuary. This is a great family activity, since kids can help with the wreaths, ornaments and garlands. Weather permitting we will also be hanging lights outside. Refreshments will be served (no fruitcake, unless somebody really really wants it--but you'll need to let us know!) To volunteer (or request said fruitcake) contact Chris Wallis at cewallis1949@yahoo.com

Dear Pilgrim Community:
Last year, on Martin Luther King Jr's birthday, I organized a mitten making day for those in need. We then distributed them among people living under Lake Shore Drive. It was very well received and appreciated. This year, I was hoping to include the Pilgrim Church and School community as we make more mittens to warm those who are living without shelter.
You can help in two ways:
2) Drop off packages of handwarmers (can be purchased in bulk at Costco), buttons, shrunken 100% wool sweaters or fleece to be used as materials in the school office. Everything helps.
3) Mitten Assembly At a later date TBD, we will be assembling the mittens. On that day, we will need volunteers and some sewing machines that we could borrow for a couple hours. Please email me your interest for sewing or if you have a sewing machine you would like to loan for the day. Thank you in advance- school parent Jennifer Goolsby at jhgoolsby@gmail.com

Prayer and Care Boxes-Dec 6
We would like to assemble a “Prayer and Care” Basket for our seniors and shut-ins. Last year, over 40 baskets were assembled and taken by Pilgrim members to deliver. If you have any Christmas decorations, devotional books, chocolate, or any other gifts a senior might enjoy, please bring them to the Pastor’s office or bring them to our assembly session on Sunday, December 6th at 9:20 a.m. For more information, please call Anna-Kari Johnson (773) 990-0814 or PastorAKJ@gmail.com. Many thanks to
you all!

Coffee Hour Spots Open!
Thank you to those who have responded to the invitation to serve as a co-host our coffee hour rotation.  In order to keep coffee hour open each week, we need 13 coffee hour teams, because each team is called upon to serve 4 times a year.  Each team is comprised at least two people or families.  Right now, 10 teams are full, and three teams are in need of another person or family.   Please consider joining one of the three teams who are short so we can continue having coffee hour each week.
Duties of coffee hour servers are: to make coffee (which is provided) before service, purchase or make a variety of snacks and juices for people to enjoy and set out the plates and cups (which are also provided).  Monies collected can be donated to a cause the team supports or kept by the team for their own reimbursement.  Cakes are provided by Pilgrim for special occasions.  If you think that you could help us out, please contact Anne Barsano cbarsano@aol.com. The coffee hour schedule is posted on the bulletin board in the narthex.  Would you please check out the dates which need help and let Anne or the person listed know that you would like to help that Sunday.  Coffee hour is too good a thing to lose!!

Boxtops For Education
The boxtops collection program continues at Pilgrim….you can also place your boxtops in the container on the table in the narthex of the church or in the container in the school office.  Join the effort!  All funds raised from the boxtops collection will go to fund Pilgrim Kids Care.  Questions?  Contact Paula Raabe (praabe@pilgrimchicago.org)
or check out the program's website www.boxtops4education.com.

Help keep Chicago’s kids warm this winter!
Pilgrim is once again teaming up with Coat Angels, a local Chicago non-profit founded by former Pilgrim parent Micki LeSueur for our winter Seasons of Service Project. For mor information on this all-volunteer organization, check out their website at http://coatangels.org
Here’s how you can help. Pilgrim will collect the donations and sell “gift cards”. A team from Pilgrim will shop, bag and label the coats for delivery. NEW coats willalso be accepted in sizes appropriate for school age children. For more information or how to get involved, contact Samantha Doerfler at samanthadoerlfer@hotmail.com or Shellie Riedle at shellieriedle@yahoo.com. Gift cards will be sold after the 10:30 service Sundays in November.

First Sunday, Feed the Hungry
Did you know that on the first Sunday of each month, our ushers take a special collection of donations in support of local and world efforts to feed the hungry? Whether you want to support the Pilgrim Saturday Hotmeals program or one of several other worthy missions, you can join in. Next Sunday in worship, we invite you to use the special envelopes provided in each pew, check off one of the designated missions listed, enclose your donation of any amount, take the envelope with you when you go for communion and simply hand the envelope to the usher.
