GATHERING OPPORTUNITIES
Dear Friends, we are in a season of growth!  Pentecost is when the Holy Spirit renews our faith.   Join us this Sunday at 9:30 a.m.  as we celebrate our week of VBS!  The children will be singing and presenting a dramatic reading, with ice cream and water balloons to follow the service!  Also, we will be saying a special prayer of commissioning for the 19 people from Pilgrim going to El Salvador next week.  See you Sunday!

El Salvador Information Meeting - today at 11:00 a.m. in the Annex for everyone going on the El Salvador Mission Trip this year to answer any remaining questions.

The Bethany/Pilgrim Refugee Project is meeting today at Bethany at 11:30 a.m. to update all involved. Not involved, but want to get involved? Contact Becky at beckygillespie@uchicago.edu

Looking for inspirational stories of Pilgrim's impact in and around the Community! Amy Truelsen, the editor of our newsletter Pilgrim's Progress, is looking for story ideas to showcase the impact of our community programming. If you have an idea or a story to share with her, please email: amy.lind@mac.com and it will be considered for inclusion in the next newsletter!

It's Block Party Season! Each fall, Pilgrim throws a unifying party for our church, school, school alumni, hot meals guests, and neighbors. Each year we do some things the same, but we also innovate a little bit each year, depending on the ideas and gifts of those involved. It is an opportunity to highlight the amazing community we have at Pilgrim, and is a wonderful embodiment of our mission to gather, prepare, and send!
This year we will be celebrating on Sunday, September 17th. Our next meeting to bring together ideas and to divvy up jobs will be this coming Thursday, the 27th of July at 7:00 p.m. in the church parlor. Contact Sarah Lau if you are interested in helping at sarahlau@juno.com We hope you'll join us!

The Score Big for Pilgrim party was a great success thanks to the generosity of all of you! Some parties still have spots available, and we would love your help in selling them out. Sunday Morning Nursery - Our supply of volunteers is running low and we'd love some help in the nursery! Commitment of your time during a church service once every two or three months and you can hang out with some cute kiddos! Contact Katie Ruger at katieruger@gmail.com if you'd like to help. Thanks!

Nick Zartler Junior - one of our members and a former school Alumni, is recovering from a health crisis. We are so thankful that God saved his life, and we invite you to continue praying for him and his family. Also, the family has started a go fund me page inviting people to make offerings in support of his medical expenses going forward. Here is the link: www.gofundme.com/nick-jrs-medical-expenses Over $10,000 was donated first day. Check it out and keep on praying.

 - Through the end of May 2017, the synod has given $722,673 toward the Million Dollar Challenge. As a reminder, the challenge runs through October 31, 2017. The goal is to raise one million dollars in support of ELCA World Hunger, and to help commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. Thank you to everyone who has and is participating.

Hot Meals Team 1 - needs a shopper! The next dates are August 19 and October 28. We thank Claudia Dawley for being the previous shopper. This would involve communicating with the team captain before those dates for a list of what to buy and then dropping the food off by Friday evening or early Saturday morning. You would get a fob to come into the school. Your receipts can be turned into the business office for reimbursement. If interested, please contactsarahlau@juno.com
