Easter Edition

Dear Friends,

Join us this Sunday as we experience the epicenter of our faith... the resurrection of Jesus. Our services will be at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., with the Easter Breakfast beginning at 9 a.m. and with an Easter Egg hunt directly following the 10:30 a.m. service!

We also have two service opportunities on Saturday! From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at North Center's Eggstraganza (across from CVS at Damen and Belle Plaine), we will be handing out eggs and flyers to families in our community. Then, at 1 p.m., we will be setting up for the Easter Breakfast and the Egg Hunt at Pilgrim. You are welcome to help with either activity!

Bible Discussion Time: Unpacking Discipleship
Join us on Sundays at 9:15 a.m. as we study “Unpacking Discipleship” together. This is a “no experience necessary” group; even if you’ve never read the Bible, you are invited to learn with us!
Sunday School
There will be no Sunday School on April 5th so our teachers and students can attend the Easter breakfast.  We'll resume at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday, April 12th.

MOPS is a morning group for moms. Discussions and speakers focus on relevant, important, and interesting topics. MOPS usually meets 1st and 3rd Thursdays at 9:15 – 11:15 a.m. at 4332 N. Winchester Ave. Childcare available on-site!
On April 16th, MOPs is hosting our Preschool Panel All-Stars! We are bringing in our team of experts (some of our awesome moms:)) from various schools in the area to share their wealth of knowledge with the group.  Not only are we going to talk about what different schools have to offer, but also our mom's are going to share their tips for how to help your child transition to school, tips on how to get involved, questions, to ask, and much, much, more!  Finally, mom's will have the chance to check out Pilgrim's preschool/kindergarten classrooms, meet and ask questions of Principal Comella and Pastor Johnson as well as see our awesome pre-school teacher Mrs. Bataneant in action!

SENT TO SERVE
Sharing Crosses with the Community
Most of what happened in the life of Jesus during Holy Week was public... in the courts... in an outdoor "Mount of Olives" setting, and in the streets as He walked to the cross...  Join Pastor Kristian in offering prayer and giving out Palm Crosses at Broadway and Wilson on Good Friday, April 3rd from 11 a.m. to 1 pm.  Thank you!
LWR Baby Kits
Thank you to everyone who donated clothing and other supplies for the Sunday School's Lutheran World Relief Baby Care Kit project, as well as to the kids and parents who helped assemble the packages.  We have 24 completed kits and will also be sending a check to LWR to help with shipping costs.  You can still  help with this effort by using a pew envelope to donate during service.  Just designate  your offering for LWR Baby Care and place it in the offering plate or drop it by the Church Office.

PTL Spring Cleaning Drive
PTL is partnering with the Family Tree Resale Shop for Pilgrim's First Spring Cleaning Drive.  Through this partnership, any clothing, home items, toys or furniture donated will translate to shopping vouchers at the Family Tree Resale shop.  Pilgrim will be able to give vouchers to friends and families in need or to our classrooms.   Donations can be left in the annex the week of April 17th through April 28th.  Drivers are also available to pick up furniture within a 10 mile radius of Pilgrim.
Please contact Jacquie Mokszycki at jmokszycki@gmail.com with any questions or to set up a furniture pick up.   Thank you in advance!

Thrivent Blanket Day for Project Linus
Project Linus supplies hand-made comfort blankets to children who are critically ill or traumatized.  The North Cook County-Chicago Chapter of Thrivent will supply everything needed to make hand-colored fabric squares and fleece blankets (both tied-edge and crochet-edge). The Chapter will also provide lunch.  No sewing skills are required. If you can tie a knot, you can help out!  If you are a quilter, please bring your own machine and basic supplies – we’ll have flannel available to sew the colored squares into quilts.  In addition, we will supply yarn, fleece and instruction for crochet-edge fleece blankets. Everyone is welcome - school-aged children through adults.

When: Saturday, May 2, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Where:  Pilgrim Lutheran Church and School

RSVP:  Janet Fisher at jfisher@uwalumni.com if you will be able to attend, or just show up.

Hot Meals PLUS is now in its fifth week.  The following appeal is not for more drivers (although we can always add to our list of possible drivers), but rather for names of SHUT-INS!  Think about your neighbors and acquaintances in the Pilgrim area - could someone use a hot meal delivered once a week (Saturday noon)?  Please call or e-mail either Jackie Mokszycki (773-677-0676)    jmokszycki@gmail.com or Janet Taylor(773-777-4052)  jkstay@aol.com

Prayer for Easter Sunday
O God, you gave your only Son to suffer death on the cross for our redemption, and by his glorious resurrection you delivered us from the power of death. Make us die every day to sin, that we may live with him forever in the joy of the resurrection, through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
