Dear Friends,

It is only fitting that as we hear Jesus pray for us: "that they may be one, as we are one..." that we move to one service this Sunday at 9:30 a.m.! There will be no 8 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. until the 2nd Sunday of September.

Memorial Day is an important day for us as people of faith and as a nation. We will be honoring our veterans and exploring the meaning and message of the ascension.

We also invite you to join us TONIGHT, in conjunction with local band Kitty Devine & The Big Whoop, at a fund raiser for the 21 and older crowd at Lizard’s Liquid Lounge located at 3058 W. Irving Park Road. The event starts at 8:00 p.m. with the band starting at 9:30 p.m. There will be a suggested donation of $5 which will go towards the El Salvador solar panel project. We will also have a split the pot raffle and raffle for several prizes including gifts certificates to some local restaurants.
GATHERING OPPORTUNITIES
Honoring “Mike and Mike” - This spring, the entire Pilgrim community is honoring Mr. Michael Knuth as he retires from 42 years of classroom teaching and Coach Michael Suhajda as he retires from 28 years of serving as a volunteer Athletic Director.
Mr. Knuth - On Sunday, June 4th - from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. - you are cordially invited to join us for an Honorary Brunch in Appreciation of his ministry, immediately following the 9:30 a.m. worship service.
Coach Suhajda - On Friday, June 9th, 9 a.m. we will be offering a prayer of appreciation for Mike Suhajda and presenting him with a gift.
In order to make a love offering in appreciation of Mr. Knuth’s ministry, or in order to make a gift in honor of Coach Suhajda by contributing to a fund for new uniforms for our athletic program (which are very needed), you can write checks to “Pilgrim Lutheran” and use the memo line to indicate to which fund you are contributing.

SENT TO SERVE
It is with sadness and with resurrection hope that we share that Brigitt Couch, daughter of Sue Couch and mother to Camryn, Chris, and Nick, passed away Sunday morning after a long bout with alcoholism. Their father passed away five years ago from a drug overdose. Sue and Camryn are active members of our worship community, prayer ministry, care ministry, Sunday School program, and are bright lights in our neighborhood. We invite you to a memorial service for Brigitt on Thursday, June 1st at 11 a.m. at Pilgrim. Please keep Sue, Camryn, Chris, and Nick in your prayers. Cards can be sent to: Sue Couch and Family
4240 N. Wolcott Ave. #2
Chicago, IL 60613
If you would like to make an offering to help the family cover the costs of the cremation and memorial, you may write a check to Pilgrim and place in the memo: Couch Family. There is also a "Go Fund Me" page set up to help secure online donations: https://www.gofundme.com/please-help-the-couch-family
