Please join us for this year's Pilgrim karaoke party, taking place Friday, November 7th at 7:30 p.m. at the Dank Haus’s Skyline Lounge (6th floor), 4740 N. Western Avenue! This is the same party that was offered at last spring’s auction (hosted by the Erdbeers, Johnsons and Otsukas) but we wanted to open it up to new families and anyone else who can now make it. We have plenty of spots available — the cost is only $20 per person and can be paid at the door. (If you already signed up at the auction, you have already paid). Snacks and soft drinks will be provided and adult beverages will be available for purchase. An RSVP is not required, but if you know that you can make it, please let us know for better planning purposes. Just email Lara Otsuka at lcotsuka@gmail.com. We would love to see you there!

Quilters’ Craft Day
On Sunday, November 9, we will be taking over Maring Hall starting at 1:00 p.m. for an afternoon and evening of sewing (or other crafts) and fellowship. We'll supply ironing equipment and power strips for sewing machines, as well as a cutting table. Bring a snack to share, and we'll order dinner around 5 p.m., which usually runs around $9 per person. Want to learn to quilt? We are planning to offer a beginners' class that afternoon. If you are interested, please contact Chris Wallis (cewallis1949@yahoo.com) to find out what supplies to bring. No prior experience needed, and we'll include hand-piecing for those who don't have sewing machines.

Thank you and best wishes
Thank you all so much for helping this past year to be such a wonderful experience for me. Pilgrim is truly a blessed place, and I am so very thankful for my time here and for each interaction I have had with you all. I pray God’s blessing on you in the times ahead. I am sad to leave, but am also excited to see what God has ahead for my husband and me. Next Friday, November 14, will be my last day in the office, so if you are around, stop by and say hello. I will always fondly remember my brothers and sisters in Christ here at Pilgrim. Thank you, and blessings to you, Barbara

THIS SUNDAY
Our Prayer for Sunday
O God of justice and love, you illumine our way through life with the words of your Son. Give us the light we need, and awaken us to the needs of others, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.

Sunday’s Readings
The first reading is
Amos 5:18–24;
In the days of Amos people thought that the day of the Lord would be a time of great victory, but Amos announced that it would be a day of darkness, not light. He said liturgy is no substitute for obedience. The Lord demands justice and righteousness in the community.

The second reading is 1 Thess. 4:13–18;
Some of the Thessalonians are worried that dead Christians will be excluded from the resurrection to eternal life when Christ comes again. Paul reassures them with the word of hope that all Christians, living or dead, will be raised into everlasting life with Christ.

The Gospel reading is Matthew 25:1–13;
Jesus tells a parable about his own second coming, emphasizing the need for readiness at all times.
