Less Stressed, Less Depressed, Less in Pain: the Power of Mindfulness: Monday, May 2 @ 6:30 pm
Presenter Stephen Cuddy teaches a workshop on mindfulness, a mental state achieved by focusing awareness on the present moment. Certified in several areas by the National Association of Mental Illness, Cuddy works with veterans and others at Pratt & Whitney and with many groups in the region to promote healthy lifestyle habits. Lou Gehrig Story: Thursday, May 5 @ 6:30 pm
The story of Lou Gehrig’s outstanding career and personal life will be told in detail by Carol Birch, a National Storytelling Network’s Circle of Excellence Award winner. Register.  Sponsored by Myrna Pauloz Berlin Senior Center Fund and the Friends of the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library. Register.

Nutmeg time is here! Those who’ve read and reviewed 5 out of 10 of the 2016 Nutmeg titles are welcome to join us for dinner, trivia, and of course a first look at the 2017 Nutmeg titles. Registration required. 

Minecrafters: Wednesday, May 11 @ 2 pm (grades 2-12)
The library now has a Minecraft server! Visit the Children's Dept. and fill out a form to be granted access (whitelisted) to play at home or at library meetings. Registration is required. More details here.
Chapter Chat: Thursday, May 12 @ 6:30 pm
A new book club for elementary school readers.
You read the book at home and then join us for a lively discussion and craft based on the book. There are no wrong answers in Chapter Chat, just fun!

Lego Construction Zone: Saturday, May 14 @ 1 pm
What will you build? Bricks provided.
For grades K and up (younger children are welcome with an adult caregiver).

Teen Advisory Board: Wednesday, May 18 @ 6:30 pm. 
Unleash your creativity, channel your inner child, & relieve stress by joining us in a world of color! We’ll provide colored pencils and coloring pages galore, plus iPads with Color Therapy installed (a really fun digital coloring app). We may also bring out our Wii and Xbox One. Memory Care Series
Are you caring for someone with dementia? Do you want to learn more about the progression of the disease and good communication tips? Would you like to be able to recognize common behaviors and know how to respond? Join us at the library for this 5 week educational program:

Week One: Tuesday, May 24th @ 6:30 pm- Overview of Dementia.
Week Two: Tuesday, May 31st @ 6:30 pm- Basics of good communications and understanding behaviors.
Week Three: Tuesday, June 7th@ 6:30 pm- Safety in the environment and how to structure a day with activities.
Week Four: Tuesday, June 14th @ 6:30 pm- Taking care of the caregiver and care options.
Week Five: Wednesday, June 22nd @ 6:30 pm- Legal and financial issues.
