“Yes, this is what I thought adulthood would be, a kind of long indian summer, a state of tranquility, of calm incuriousness, with nothing left of the barely bearable raw immediacy of childhood, all the things solved that had puzzled me when I was small, all mysteries settled, all questions answered, and the moments dripping away, unnoticed almost, drip by golden drip, toward the final, almost unnoticed, quietus.” ― John Banville, The Sea
HAPPENINGS NOW
  • Sizing up with 8 x 8 with Tony Morton at Kasum Contemporary.   Tony contacted me to be a part of a holiday show in OKC featuring work 8 x 8 inches. These may be similar to my small collectibles but they are completed on a high grade of panel cradled with wood panels on the sides for their depth. I bought a few extra panels to create some for my Holiday Series on my own website in the Small Collectibles, but they will be more do to the product I am working on.  My Work at Kasum Contemporary
  • Mirada Fine Art, Denver, Colorado   Okay, so more THANKS  to Steve Sonnen and his staff at Mirada.  Steve contacted me two weeks ago and needed more work quickly as they were hanging a show that next week.  I had been working on two new pieces for him but they were not dry enough to ship. Needless to say, my awesome husband boxed two wet paintings and we sent them Fedex overnight to Mirada.  They arrived safely and one sold immediately.  My work at Mirada Fine Art.
  • Taking Flight to new places.   I have been asked by several places to come and speak about my art and my faith and how they blend together. While I am not comfortable sharing it with an entire student body at a college, I am thinking about it. If we do not push ourselves into new places we have no room to grow.  I have had quite a few emails this past month and I need to get a workshop together as well.

  •      When thinking back to the old days and the end of August and the start of September, it found us starting school in September and not August. We had a full three month summer to run free, ride bikes, climb trees and swim. Now when September arrives I am counting down the days that the temperatures drop under ninety degrees.  Now that I am 'grown',  no longer do I worry about major deadlines, studying after school, watching TV or dealing with friends in high school.   I have time to be an artist. There are days of intense work and planning. Hours filled with frustration and feelings of 'unworthy'. BUT there are moments filled with ecstasy when you realize you are ONE with your painting.  The spirit is flowing straight through from you to the canvas. It is a state of tranquility... I have arrived.  (So has September.)
  • Feeling the Spirit with Mist.   Mist, my new pup, is a year old. She is my studio dog and my constant companion.    She is a Kerry Blue Terrier and our fifth one in the family.  She joins Paddy our 12 year old Kerry in patrol at the house and fun companionship, but in reality she is my service dog and companion.
  • WORKSHOP?   Now is the time to email me. I am going to put a late fall workshop together. I need a head count and some input on: A.  arriving Thursday night to paint Friday, Saturday and half of Sunday... or B. Arriving Friday and painting only Saturday all day and half of Sunday. How much time do you want to spend finding the spirit of your paint in your work? Email me here.
