Subject: Lusty Tomatoes and $50 Hearts

July 2016

“The beet is the most intense of vegetables. The radish, admittedly, is more feverish, but the fire of the radish is a cold fire, the fire of discontent not of passion. Tomatoes are lusty enough, yet there runs through tomatoes an undercurrent of frivolity. Beets are deadly serious.”

― Tom Robbins, Fierce Invalids Home from Hot Climates

From the Studio

On the Road Busy month of travel and family and friends.  July is one of our big birthday months with family and friends.  Terry and I try to see everyone and celebrate his birthday as well.  Right now this morning he is out working on the flower beds and tending to the plants he is nurturing through our infamous Texas Summer Heat. Last weekend we visited Mount Vernon, Texas, where we use to live on Lake Cypress Springs. I do miss our friends there but we are so grateful for our lives here near our children and grandchildren.

Love Continues  In the Studio I have been finishing up my June Bride painting (see above) and not sure what I am going to do with her, but I really enjoyed painting her. I am going to do a series of figurative work.  I think I took this one to my current level with too much color and too much information, but I love the finished piece. The new pieces I hope inspire the viewer to take a journey in what they see. The Bride began here... new vacant horizons, but something in me had me finish her. Tough to dial down the color.

Both of my shows are over in Denver and Oklahoma city.  I sold pieces that are heading to new homes.   My Oceanside Horse piece sold at The La Jolla Gallery the week it arrived.   If you are traveling, stop by one of the galleries in California, Wyoming, Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas and see my work.

“You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.”
