MIDDLE RIVER CLEAN-UP DAY - SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 27TH

Please consider joining forces with Friends of the Middle River and Valley Conservation Council (VCC) for the first annual Middle River Clean-up Day on September 27th.

Sponsored by Virginia Eagle Distributing, we are seeking volunteers to help clean debris from sections of Middle River or any creeks that flow into it - Lewis Creek, Christians Creek, Moffett Creek, and others.

How can you help?

1.  Gather a group of friends from work, church, or wherever, and let us know that you want to "adopt" a section of River or stream to clean-up.  If you're not sure what section to "adopt" we can help find you one.

2.  If you don't have a group, please volunteer as an individual, and we'll add you to a group of volunteers.

3.  If you know of a section of Middle River or one of its creeks that has a lot of debris and needs cleaning, please let us know so we can find a group to clean it up.

The Clean-up will take place in the morning, and all collected debris will be taken to Virginia Eagle's facility at 827 Lee Highway in Verona where volunteers will sort the trash into recyclables and non-recyclables.  Volunteers who do not want to get into the water can volunteer to sort debris.

An organizer from each Clean-up group should contact either FOMR or VCC for detailed instructions on safety, clothing, and other logistics for their group.
