He is Able

By Lori Dixon

“I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:1-2 (ESV)

Living in the Pacific Northwest, there are times when seeing the white peak of Mt. Baker against a cloudless blue sky takes my breath away. It never gets old.More often than not, I whisper to the Lord, ‘Would you look at that?’ or ‘Are you seeing this?’ Now, I know, that may seem silly, but it’s what I do. It’s my way of saying to Him, ‘Wow, thanks!’ The hills cause me to look up; both literally and spiritually.

Which I think is the whole point. I believe He puts amazing moments all around us to give us a nudge. His way of saying, ‘Hey, remember Me?’ Perfect, unique snowflakes, wildflowers on meridians, or the engineering and beauty of a tiny hummingbird; all creation declares the Glory of the Lord. It’s up to us, however to take notice and to turn to Him in acknowledgement.

No matter what challenges come your way, He is able. The God who spun the world into orbit is waiting. Take a moment to look around and offer up your praise to the One who through creation is calling to you, ‘Look what I did for you! Bring your problems to me, I can handle it.’
