TITLE: Kaleidoscope

07/20/16 The broadcaster drones on. My phone pings with people’s opinions about the latest news story.
Terrorism.
Racial tension.
Politics.
The world is falling apart.
I can’t take any more.
From bad to worse to horrible.
My heart is heavy.
I do the unthinkable:
Shut the television off.
Silence the phone.
I’m drawn to the backyard.
I stretch out in my hammock.
Just in time, I’m rewarded with a dazzling display of colors splashed across the western sky. The sun then nestles in just so, on the pre-harvest field of corn. While there, it calls each beam home by name.
Ray after ray.
Resilient tendrils begrudgingly release their hold. Soon they gather one last time for a most spectacular sunset of orange, edged in blue and purple.
After the show, the sun dips below the corn. I almost miss its playful wink when it pops back up one last time to say goodbye until tomorrow. I close my eyes, trying to forget the sorrow.
Something lands on my nose.

Another Great Way to Improve The Critique CircleFellow Members Need Your Help.
Providing critiques for fellow members is of great encouragement to them. It is also the perfect way to improve your own writing skill.
Tips on Giving Critiques
Critiquing the work of others requires balance. Being too nice will not help your fellow writers develop their work; being too harsh can crush a writer’s ego (particularly new writers, who tend to be shy about sharing their work). How can you achieve the right balance? Here are some tips:
Take care to point out both what works, and what doesn’t. If you’re new to critiquing, a good hint would be to point out one thing you like (a phrase, a description, an idea) for each thing that bothered you.
Whenever possible, be specific when pointing out things that you didn’t like (don’t just say “I didn’t like this part” or “I’d cut that,” say “I didn’t like this part because…” or “I’d cut that because…”).
Try to offer suggestions when you think a change is needed. Suggestions, even to the point of an offered rewording, can be very helpful; even if the suggestion isn’t exactly right for the author to use, he or she may get a good idea from it, or at least a better understanding of the point you are trying to make.
Be honest and direct, but in a polite and caring way. Holding back your feelings about a piece because you’re afraid to share your thoughts isn’t going to help anyone. Just be mindful of how you share your opinions!

Not all of us can go around the world as missionaries in person, but we can reach the world online. We can even reach many places missionaries cannot go in person. The world needs sites like FaithWriters, prepared Christian authors and as many Christian articles and books that point to Jesus as possible. The web especially needs your Bible studies, apologetic articles, calls to salvation, nonfiction and fiction articles and books leading people to Jesus. Together we attract lost people from all over the world who need Jesus along with believers who need their minds renewed and encouraged. God has given us a great opportunity to reach many people who may have never heard about Jesus. The image above marks the location of our visitors.
Numerous people from around the world have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior directly through FaithWriters. We contact every person who leaves an email address, and provide them with more information. Sometimes we correspond with them several times. We even offer to place them in contact with another believer (FaithWriters member) in their country. Consider how much time people --- especially kids --- spend on the internet these days. For quite some time now, FaithWriters has been experiencing increasing expenses and declining income. The current trend is not good. The vast majority (99%) of our members are free members, even though our membership is only pennies per day. Our main ongoing expenses come from administering the Challenge, other tools that help writers improve and site maintenance. We have regular and growing expenses including a hefty current expense to convert our large site to a mobile responsive site.

Victory in Jesus - Toni Babcock
"There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way of escape that ye may be able to bear it," ( I Corinthians 10:13 KJV).
In his letter to the Corinthians, Paul's declaration of God's faithfulness to "make a way of escape" pretty much blows the cover off the old excuse "The devil made me do it". The truth is, as believers in the power of the gospel, the devil has no power to make us do anything. His power has been broken. Now because of Jesus, we finally have the hope of attaining the kind of life the Lord Jesus Himself calls us to live. The question is, do we believe it enough to use God's escape hatch when faced with temptation? This would involve calling upon God for deliverance, claiming the promises in His Word, and seeking the help of fellow believers who can pray with us and for us, bringing support when necessary.
By nature we are still sinners who slip and slide and sometimes fall flat on our face. But it is possible to turn the self-condemnation of continually living in defeat into the victory of living in Jesus and the promises of God's Word. Isn't that part of what salvation is all about? Isn't it more than just making sure we are going to Heaven by and by? Yes, it is learning to live in the victory of Jesus to the glory of God now - here on Earth. It's being saved not only from the penalty of our sins (praise God for that) - but from the power.

Please Pardon the Work - Mobile Responsive Conversion - Patience Requested
FaithWriters will soon begin a gradual conversion to a mobile responsive site. Much of the hard work of individual page conversion has already been done on a duplicate site designed for development. We will gradually be replacing the current site pages with pages that will automatically re-size based on your viewing device. This has been a very large and time consuming project due to the size of the site. You should not notice any interruption on a normal sized laptop or larger screen. Hopefully you will not even notice the gradual change on mobile devices. However, there could be issues at times with links not working and misaligned formatting on pages. If you are using a mobile device, for a time you may experience pages that respond correctly to your device size and other pages that display in their current full size format. A gradual transition will avoid any huge issues that might occur by transitioning all at once.
