FaithWriters, November 2012 News and information for the write-brained Christian
"Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name." - Psalm 100:4
Thanksgiving Day isn't the only day we're supposed to give thanks to God for everything He's done for us, of course, but it does allow us to set aside a day when we can focus on His goodness even more than usual. While football and turkey and pie are great, we often get so caught up in the "holiday" that we forget its meaning. God is so good and there are SO many things to be thankful for. Don't forget to give praise where praise is due!
Be sure to check out the Out of the Mouths of FaithWriters section at the end of this newsletter to see what some of our members are most thankful for this year. _________________________________________ Pray for Those Who Persecute You FaithWriters had a hacker on the site, which caused quite a disturbance. The site security has been upgraded considerably. Our forums are back up now too. Please note that FaithWriters holds no financial information on any members, so that is not an issue. However, it is always a good idea to regularly change your password on any site you use. We strongly recommend that you change your password on our site and the forums. If your old password was also used in other locations beside FaithWriters, you'll need to change it there too. Never use the same password for different sites. Make every password unique. Keep all passwords in a secure location (not on your computer). Coincidence? We asked members on the site to pray for the salvation of our hacker. Mike posted a short article to them. Others have posted prayers on the site or told us they are praying for our hacker. When someone accepts Jesus on our videos we are notified. This came in the day after we started praying. Since all things are possible for Him who believes - I believe. Prayer Works! Keep praying for Jaboc, his growth in Christ and protection in Algeria. As if on automatic, her fingers punched in the password to access her email account. Oh, my, she thought. How could I have forgotten my password? The determined woman punched in the same password and, of course, she received the same results. Not one to give up, she checked her profile as she had been instructed by a video. Changing the password, using characters, and a capitalized letter should be a good safe guard, she nodded her head with satisfaction. She'd done everything correctly. Her eyes narrowed and her brow knit together as a hint of doubt crept into her brain. Better check to be sure. She signed out and then signed in again using her new password. Viola! She could read, edit or delete any of the articles she'd written. She nodded her head slightly to the left and with a smirk on her face, she thought. That was easy. Now check your email.
Her confidence was beginning to soar. She'd done everything correctly and it worked. Checking her email should be a cinch. Clicking into the email site, she punched in her user name and then entered her new password. A frown crossed her face. What? That can't be! I can get to one part of the site but not the other? However, the woman was not going to ask for help again. She'd work this out alone. Off and on for the next few hours, which seemed like days, she would check the email to see if she could sign on. Still no luck! What's even more frustrating, she thought, is I can't get to the help site.

| | | | | The next blogging contest is up and running. This contest is open to all members, but you will need to register (for free) on the FaithWriters Forums to participate. Win cash prizes, paid writing assignments, and/or an upgraded FaithWriters membership!
In this contest you will be writing about the Angel Tree program. This is a program of Prison Fellowship Ministries. This Christ-centered program provides Christmas gifts and the gospel of Jesus to children with incarcerated parents. The topic of children separated from their parents should encourage some excellent articles.
Write your blog post from the view of the child without his or her dad or mom. Write it from the perspective of the incarcerated parent. Maybe there has been a Christmas when you have been lonely or sad, and you can relate. How did you feel? What were your thoughts? Write it from the heart.
Complete details about this contest, including specific guidelines for entering, are posted on the message boards. Visit this link for further instructions: BLOGGING CONTEST
Also visit The Angel Tree website to learn more about this amazing ministry. The judges on this contest will be from the DeMoss Group. They are the largest Christian Public Relations firm on the planet. This could lead to many more contests and paid writing assignments for our members outside of these contests. This contest is a must enter if you really are serious about being paid for your writing. | | OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF FAITHWRITERS
Last month, we asked members to let us know what they are most thankful for this year. Here are a few of their responses:
"My son and daughter-in-law lost their precious baby shortly after she was born early this year. They didn't plan another baby so soon, but are now expecting early in 2013. I am thankful that God has protected this pregnancy and they will have a healthy girl, Addison Belle. We don't always understand what happens to us, but God can take our wounded hearts and heal." - Debora Dyess
"This year I'm most thankful for the fact that God has continued to provide for our family's needs, even when I gave in to worrying." - Shari Armstrong
"I have so much to be thankful for. . . it is hard to choose just one thing. If I had to say one thing I am thankful for, it is that God is always faithful, merciful, loving and kind. Without Him in my life, I would be completely lost." - Lisa Johnson
"I am most thankful for God's mercy and grace in general and my faithwriters platinum membership upgrade in particular." - RestLanders
NEXT MONTH'S QUESTION:
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHRISTMAS CAROL OR SONG?
Send your brief (1 to 2 sentences) response to Faithwriters.contact@yahoo.com. Then check the October newsletter to see if your answer was selected to appear.
