New Year's Resolution

By this year’s end, I will:
Lose twenty pounds, keep them off for good, and be the envy of my best friend;
Get a job with more importance and prestige;
Go to a monastery for a whole month to pray without interruption;
Write and sell my award-winning novel;
Run three miles a day.
Hmmmm ...
By this month’s end, I will:
Lose three pounds, keep them off for good, and be the envy of my best friend;
Look for a job that pays more;
Go to a monastery for a weekend to pray without interruption;
Write and mail out proposal and first chapter of novel;
Run one mile a day.
Hmmmm ...
By this week’s end, I will:
Stay the same weight, just not gain any more;
Work harder at my job, enjoy it more;
Go to the monastery of my backyard for 45 minutes each day;
Write one chapter of my novel;
Run in place while cooking supper.
Hmmmm ...
By this day’s end, I will:
Share heartfelt time, a cup of coffee, and a piece of pie with my best friend;
Thank God that I have a job;
Go to the monastery of my heart frequently, and find God there;
Write one page of novel;
Walk the dog.

For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform signs and wonders, to lead astray, if possible, the elect. Mark 13:22
While the internet has a lot of great information about Christianity, it is also a breeding ground for completely false information about Christianity. There are a whole host of sites run by atheists who are doing their very best to mislead seekers and destroy Christianity. If you do not believe me just search Jesus never existed and see what you find.
So we are asking you to make a commitment. Will you make a personal commitment to publish at least one article per month in our regular articles or free reprints sharing the truth of the gospel? It does not need to be a lengthy article, just what God leads you to post. Be creative with your keywords when you post and list things like suicide, divorce and bankruptcy to draw those who might be considering these.
But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect... 1 Peter 3:15

Happy New Year! It is a brand new day, month and year, the time each year when one thinks about resolutions. Some resolve to lose weight, exercise more, break bad habits, get organized…sound familiar? Unfortunately, most people start out well then over the course of a few weeks revert to previous behaviors. Such is the life of humans!
So how does one succeed in mastering their resolutions? The professionals will tell you to set realistic goals, write the goals down, keep them in sight, focus on you achieving the goals, and take one step at a time. All of these things may help you achieve your goals but for the Christian, prayer is also important.
The Lord knows our desires as well as our needs, but He also expects us to come to Him and ask for His assistance. We need to pray, asking and believing that He will help us with our desired goals. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13. Unfortunately, God is not a fairy Godmother, who waves a magic wand fulfilling all our desires. We also have to do our share. That means we may have to push away from the table, take that walk around the block, and or clean the kitchen sink. Are you ready? Go!
Dear Lord, as I enter into a new year, I ask that you give me the strength I need to accomplish the goals I have resolved to do this year. And I will give You the glory and praise. In Jesus’s name, amen.
