Sweet Home Alabama

 by Judy Belshe-Toernblom

Proverbs 3: 5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart. And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him. And He will make your paths straight.

In the movie, Sweet Home Alabama, Melanie Carmichael, found a new fiancé and a successful career in the big city. However, she’d left some unfinished business in her former life.

In going home to get her divorce papers signed, family and friends are suddenly back in her life. In Melanie’s attempt to sever from her past and her fears of being trapped in that life style, she hurts and insults friends and family.

Isn’t that pretty much what we do? We run in fear that we won’t get what we want or that someone is going to take it or try and hold us back. We strike out and or bolt! Yes, we can change our location but everywhere you are… there you are!

Eventually you’ll need to clean things up and make decisions on grounds stronger than fear and anger.

It is possible to feel good just about anywhere, but it always feels better when we are living God’s plan. Ask yourself; does my plan for my life involve anger, fear and hurting others?

Whatever the reason or circumstance there is someone you can count on for truth, God. Let God be the driving force in your decisions and career. Let Him be the beginning and end of all your decision.
