| | Drawn to a Drip

I could not avoid its incessancy.
Drip, drip, drip, drip.
It was an unusually hectic day. My men and I oversaw the execution of three condemned men. Having carried out dozens before, I’d developed a rather callous indifference to the procedures. Keeping a hardened distance was the only way a man could successfully serve on my squad. Several had tried but found they were not suited for the task.
I knew the two men on the outer crosses to be common thieves, but that man in between them—I wasn’t sure what his real crime was. Many said he claimed to be some sort of king. Earlier, my men had mocked him as he was whipped and beaten. I draped a purple robe over his bloody back to call attention to his proclaimed royalty, complete with a crown of thorns we’d jammed into his scalp.
We had beaten him so badly he could hardly make it up the hill. Despite people screaming insults and spitting upon him, forward he trudged, his eyes seemingly fixed upon an objective of which only he knew.
Submissively, he fell on the rocky Golgotha ground. It was then I realized that he had not voiced one objection. Not once during the abusive whipping, punching, and slapping. Not even on the agonizing walk through the streets. No, not a single, scornful look our way.
Now, when nailing men to the cross, it was always my practice to make no eye contact. Attribute it to insensitivity, if you will, but though I’d hammered through many a man’s hands and feet, that grisly sound of piercing flesh and tendon, accompanied by the agonizing screams, could penetrate the most thick-skinned amongst us. But driving the jagged spike through this man’s right hand with my heavy, iron mallet, my eyes were drawn toward his. Though he screamed out in pain, that same expression of determination to finish this task remained. The blood gushed forth, and I watched as it ran down his arm.
We erected all three crosses and began the long wait for death to overcome them. Some men die quickly, while others battle death right up to their last gasp. If it carried on too long, we would simply break their legs, rendering them unable to raise themselves up to breathe. Though seemingly cruel, it was perhaps the most humane act that we performed.
My men were shouting and laughing as they gambled for the man’s clothing. The mob both screamed in hatred and cried out in sorrow. Above all this commotion, I began to hear it. The sound drew my attention away from the turmoil and began to penetrate my soul. My mind could not elude it.
Drip, drip, drip, drip.
What was it? Where was it coming from? I looked with determination for its source, as if it were calling to me.

Wild-eyed and disheveled, he roamed the streets and alleys peering in the doorways, tearing at his hair, distraught and distracted.
"I'm looking for Love. I've lost it. Has it left? Is it hiding? Has it gone forever? "
Hedon looked over his tankard and gave a snigger. "Still looking, old man? No luck yet? Try the whore house. There's plenty will love you there, for a fee."
"Oh, help me, help me please. I'm looking for Love. I've lost my love. Has the whole world grown cold?" His hands shook, causing his matted locks to tremble around his face as he staggered on.
"Come in here, wild man, and learn from me." A fat man in a business suit sat at a table. A girl sat on his lap; men hovered, fawning around him. Money bags littered the table. "Make your fortune and the world will love you. Look at you, penniless old beggar. Who will love you like that?"
A haunting wail left the old man's lips. "Oh-oh-oh-oh, the pain. Who will help me? Who can lead me to Love?"

It is not our job to refute a non-believers assertions such as "God does not exist' or "The Bible is a made up story". It is their job to back up their assertions with evidence. Asking questions makes them think about why they believe what they do, keeps the interaction peaceful and puts the burden of proof on them. |

Together we are casting a net on the over the web, an extremely important field ready for harvest. The enemy knows this and he is working hard on the internet to lead people down the wrong path. As followers of Jesus we can make a difference by publishing the true message and pointing people to Jesus. Men and women from over 230 countries (View Countries Here) are drawn to the FaithWriters site by the various articles on the end of our virtual fishing pole. Many have no other way but the internet to find out about Jesus. They are able to learn a lot from our site and the sister-sites to which we have provided links. Many click on the sites we link to that offer in-depth information on Jesus because they are able to get more information in their native language.
Hundreds of people from around the world have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior directly through FaithWriters. Plus, as we refer many people to other sites to help answer their questions and accommodate their language. We know it is not about just about numbers. We also know that accepting Jesus and confessing Him is just where it starts. It is honor to consider the fact that God would use us in this way.
