Topic: MAIL

TITLE: Arrows Fly High
By Zacharia Fox
02/23/16

Once, all the soldiers sang of their deliverance, and the faithfulness of The Deliverer. But the beginning of the road, the cross, was so far behind. Many soldiers fell and many more wandered.

The road, once plain, dipped into a valley, and in this valley the arrows of the enemy flew thick, blotting out the sun.

But, not all had abandoned the road.

Teachable trembled, eyeing the road ahead, but seeing only arrows and no sun he would not advance. Neither could he retreat, as the words of the veteran echoed in his mind, “This one thing I do. Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what lies ahead.”

The past wasn’t an option, though the road ahead wasn’t much of one either. In his plight he turned to his companion. “Companion, what should I do? The arrows are so many, I am sure to be struck. Many soldiers have been wounded already, and many others have wandered from the road in search of safer passage.“

Companion’s eyes were gentle, but his tone serious. “Why do you only turn to me now that you are in distress? A friend is not only for times of trouble. A friend loves at all times. Make it your habit to come to me frequently, and when the battles come you will find yourself thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

“You are right, my companion.”

“As for the arrows, didn’t The Deliverer give you mail to wear?”

“Indeed, companion. But the other soldiers told me the mail makes us slow. I tried to wear it, but took it off when those without it advanced so quickly.”

Companion’s face was set in stone. “And where are those soldiers now?”

“They’ve fallen to the arrow.”

“Beware, Teachable. Any who find excuse for disobedience are in rebellion, and rebellion is a treacherous slope. You must not only walk the road, but you must walk it as The Deliverer walked it. If you are on the road but of the wilderness, then to the wilderness you will be drawn. The Deliverer was clothed all the time with that mail. So too, must you be.”

Teachable slipped on the mail, the weight of which pulled him down to the path so that he was made to crawl.

“Companion! Do you see now how slow we advance? Perhaps we might jog a distance to make up some time.”

“Your goodness is not measured by the speed of your progress on the road, but by your faithfulness to it. At the finish, the prize is that The Deliverer might say, ‘Well done my good and faithful servant.’ You can’t navigate the path without the posture of the one who pardoned you. That is why he says, “I am the way.””

“Yes. But we’ve not been struck by arrows thus far. Could we not raise up but a little, if not for speed, then for dignity?”

“Those who rise, advancing quickly, do indeed seek a certain dignity. The barbs of pride, ambition and desire, are their guides. Pride won’t be burdened by...      Continue reading and leave a comment for Zach HERE.

Fishers of Men in Over 231 Countries
Together We Spread the Gospel on The Net

The enemy is alive and rampant online with a message of unbelief. A message of hate for Christianity and Jesus. The online world needs sites like FaithWriters and as many Christian articles pointing to Jesus as possible. The image marks the location of our visitors. People from all over the world read your articles and learn about Jesus.

We would really hate to see FaithWriters come to an end someday, but with increasing expenses and declining income the current trend is not good. The majority (99%) of our members are free members.  We have regular and growing expenses including a large current expense to convert the site to a mobile responsive site.

Together we are working to improve the writing skills of many Christian writers who will publish an untold number of articles and books pointing the lost to Jesus. At the same time we are casting a net on the web, an extremely important field ready for harvest. The enemy knows this and he is working hard on the internet to publish false and misleading material that leads people away from Jesus. As followers of Jesus we can make a difference by publishing the true message and pointing people to our Savior. Men and women from over 231 countries (View Countries Here) are drawn to the FaithWriters site by the various articles on the end of our virtual fishing pole. Often visitors are from closed countries to the message of Christ and the residents have no other way but the internet to find out about Jesus. They are able to learn a lot from our site and the sister-sites to which we have provided links including in-depth information in their native language.

Numerous people from around the world have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior directly through FaithWriters.
We contact every person who leaves an email address, and provide them with more information. Sometimes we correspond with them several times. We even offer to place them in contact with another believer (FaithWriters member) in their country. Consider how much time people --- especially kids --- spend on the internet these days. Watch this two minute video on how Kimberly found God on the internet.

Finding Faith in an Age of Doubt - Toni Babcock

"For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God," (Ephesians 2:8 KJV).

From time to time you may hear the question, "What faith do you belong to?" As if faith were merely a set of spiritual principles one decides to pick and choose from. Yet the reality is, we do not belong to faith. Faith belongs to, or does not belong to us.

So how does one get faith? One should be careful not to mistake it for mere devotion. One might become devoted to all kinds of things, religious or non-religious, but this is not the faith the Bible refers to as "the gift of God".

For the Christian, biblical faith is unique in that it is driven solely by God's word and promise. It is the outworking of an inner life ignited by a living faith in the living God. It is the exercise of the heart's surrender, and a committal to trust in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

Charles Spurgeon, that great nineteenth century preacher put it this way:

"Trust is the lifeblood of faith; there is no saving faith without it… Lean with all your weight upon Christ… fall at full length and lie on the Rock of Ages. Cast yourself upon Jesus. Rest in Him. Commit yourself to Him. That done, you have exercised saving faith."

We Always Respond to Emails

If you do not receive a timely response to an email, we did not receive your email or you did not receive our reply. We are constantly battling overwhelming amounts of spam and sometimes emails we should
receive may end up in our spam by accident.

You should check your spam and make sure that writer-support@faithwriters.com,
bea @faithwriters.com and michael@faithwriters.com are on your email providers approved list.

If you have tried more than once and get no reply, click on a contact link at the bottom of most FaithWriters pages and send us a message telling us of the issue. We will try and email you from another email provider.
Another Great Way to Improve The Critique Circle

Members and paid editors provide the critiques in the circle. We just added two more paid editors to the Critique Circle and they are telling us they need more submissions.
You can even submit your judged Challenge entries to the circle.

"I have a few, very few, trusted friends who will edit me with a scowl. Most people want you to feel good so they give you compliments about your writing, and these don’t help at all (except emotionally). Really, you need some grouches to edit your work." Philip Yancey in a FaithWriters interview.

To see if you are paying attention, Michael is giving away free Critique Circle credits to all Platinum members who read this and respond. This limited offer means you do not need to provide a critique, you just get two, three or more critiques on a piece you submit. Just email Michael@FaithWriters.com and ask for a free credit. This is a real chance to receive some very constructive and private critiques of your writing.

These are all free to read for you while others pay full price on Amazon. Plus you receive the bonus of helping a fellow believer and FaithWriters member. It takes reviews to sell books these days and other members really appreciate your help.

It’s not like he didn’t have enough trouble. With a looming divorce and his career on life-support, he didn’t need anything else to go wrong. Then Clarissa, his soon-to-be ex-wife is mauled in a cougar attack. Lonnie knows he has to see her one last time.
