True Riches

By Darlene Edmondson

“The goodness of God endures continually” (Psalm 52:1 NKJV).

God is a ‘cup-running-over’ Giver. Our Father isn’t stingy---graciously, He bestows gifts of: life, love, peace, rest and joy. God delights in giving good things to His children and daily load them with benefits (Psalm 68:19).

The Lord owns it all. He has a magnificent storehouse of treasures beyond our comprehension “There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God” (Psalm 46:4 NKJV). “O Lord, how manifold are Thy works! In wisdom hast Thou made them all: the earth is full of Thy riches” (Psalm 104:24 KJV).

Jesus taught His disciples about true riches. Since there are true riches, there must be false ones.

Jesus warned His followers, “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:19-21 NKJV).

The most important gift given by God was His Son “He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?”(Romans 8:32 NKJV)

God so loved that He gave. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 NKJV).
