His Great Love - by Susan Ferguson

You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord , know it completely . (Psalm 139: 2, 4 NIV)

The Psalmist paints a beautiful portrait of how perfectly God knows you. He perceives your thoughts before you think, and He knows your words before you speak. Be not fearful of His keen knowledge, for He sees you through eyes of grace. God is for you and not against you. He created you to have a Father-child relationship with Him. He wants you to talk to Him and ask for His help and guidance. He knows your weaknesses, yet He still loves you. Like a loving parent, He will correct you if you sin or stray. His chastisement is for your good and is a token of His deep love for you.

God is love, and only He can love you perfectly. Unlike human love, God's love is not dependent on circumstances or conditions. Human love is frail and can fail; God's love is unfailing and everlasting. You cannot earn His love or buy it. There is nothing you can do to make Him stop loving you.

God's love is so awesome and high and divine that it is hard to grasp. Though you may not fully comprehend God's love, you can accept it by faith. When you embrace His love, you no longer view Him as an angry judge but a loving Father who cares for you. The Father's ultimate expression of love was demonstrated by giving you the greatest gift of all, His beloved Son. The greatest sacrifice ever made, Jesus Christ gave His life so you can live forever.
