The End Of The Road

John 14:1-3 NKJV: In My Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

We stopped the car at the end of the pavement and got out. Richard had told me about this highway, but he had not shared it with me until now. A mile back a traveler would think he had miles of highway ahead of him. There were no road signs that mentioned the end of the road. Thick forest on each side of the highway was swaying in the cool of the day. We could hear birds singing in the trees. No road noise here!

“What happened?, I asked. Even the highway lines go to the dirt. What a waste!”

"It’s a road to nowhere,” Richard said, shaking his head. “It’s kind of like people who don’t plan for life after death. They’re caught up in the trip, not the destination. Beautiful scenery, nice ride, just no plan when the trip is over.

We walked down a path into the woods enjoying the quietness. A squirrel scampered up a tree. “I’m glad we know our destination and it’s paved all the way,” Richard said putting his arm around me. We headed toward the car, as the sun dipped behind the trees.
