Welcome back to Court Services’ latest issue of our informative newsletter! Court Services’ staff continue to do great things, from participating in local school fairs, to going above and beyond to assist a hearing impaired client navigate the community service program, to maintaining and working towards additional accreditation status and more! In this past year, Court Services has increased training opportunities, integrated the use of more technology and data, and edited and updated internal policies and procedures. Other Court Service accomplishments include partnerships, such as with our ongoing Criminal Justice Mental Health Substance Abuse Grant (CJMSAG) and Meridean Behavioral Health Care; Facilities Maintenance for repair and safety upgrades; an alternative sanctions program with the Department of Corrections; an upcoming joint presentation with the Jail and Meridean, and collaborations in recent community reentry efforts. We continue to be very proud of the critical continuum of care that Court Services provides, making a difference to the Alachua County community and beyond! Featured Program - Pretrial Supervision
There are three (3) Pretrial Officers assigned to supervise all pretrial defendants released to Court Services with pending criminal cases. The officers are assigned caseloads by clients’ last names. These officers supervise defendants with cases in both misdemeanor and felony courts. It is not uncommon for them to supervise defendants with multiple cases in multiple courts.
Spotlight on Community Partner - Meridian Behavioral Healthcare
Meridian, a private, non-profit organization, has its roots in the community mental health movement that began in the 1960’s to bring education about mental illnesses and substance use disorders and treatment for those affected to the local level.

Free Parenting Classes
Healthy Start of North Central Florida is offering a free parenting program in Alachua, Bradford, Columbia, Hamilton and Putnam Counties. The Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) program helps parents and caregivers learn about their child’s development, gain one-on-one parenting support and more.
