Fun & Easy Projects
Can you believe it?

Each of these projects was inspired by pictures of ornaments made with wood shavings in a Decorating for the Holidays book.

But instead of wood shavings - that would be difficult - these use paper.

Since paper is made from wood, they're not far from their inspiration.

Three are angels, one is an owl and the final one is a flower ornament.

Let's take a look at the first paper angel.
Four colors of paper, scissors and glue become this little Curved Paper Angel.

Can you imagine this being made out of wood shavings?

One thing they did differently was use a wooden bead for the face, which would be too heavy for this little angel.

If you're skilled with drawing faces, add eyes, a smile and blushing cheeks to your angel.

Fast, fun and easy - make one, several or many!

Next, let's take a look at the second angel ornament.
Again, simple paper in geometric shapes form this Curled Paper Angel.

Even simple shapes like this would be difficult in wood shavings, maybe not as difficult as I think, but still...

This little angel is easy to make and inexpensive too.

Use your choice of colors to make several of this angel.

The third angel is more three-dimensional and lends itself to a wooden bead for its head.
I call this one the Singing Angel since she's holding a hymnal.

There's even a version with yarn hair but I prefer this simpler version.

I just can't imagine the skill needed to make a large wood shaving and form its shape comparable to the body of this paper version.

Have fun using different colors of paper for this angel.

Next, this owl project is similar though not quite shaped the same as their wooden shavings version.
I called this little guy Buddy the Owl.

Doesn't he look wise? Or, at least inquisitive.

Make him out of natural colors or go wild with purple, pink, lime green or whatever color you want.

Enjoy making your own!

Last of the wood shavings project is a flower.
I call this one a Paper Intersections Flower, because the strips intersect to form the design.

This one is even more difficult to imagine making out of wood shavings.

The woodworker would need to be very skilled to match the intersections perfectly and not break the wooden shavings.

Paper is more forgiving.

One sheet of paper makes one flower.

Experiment with  the last steps to get different shapes.

Have fun making this and the other "wood shavings" projects.
This Celtic design ornament is not just for the holidays. The Primary Angles design adds bright cheer throughout the year and is available on the funEZ CafePress shop.

Next week is Christmas - may you and yours have an enjoyable, safe and rejoicing holiday.

More projects are planned and will be added to the funEZcrafts site in the near future.
