Greetings Fellow Stargazers!

Back on August 24, I wrote in my newsletter that while Saturn was in Sagittarius, it would deal with the religious extremists that rose to power while Pluto was visiting the Archer.  I reiterated this in my December 20 blog and also added that by the time it left, some type of organized global initiative would be in place to counter it.

As Saturn reached 2° of Sagittarius this past Wednesday, a massacre (allegedly) perpetrated by religious extremists took place at the Charlie Hebdo office in Paris, France. In years to come, I believe this incident will be viewed as the starting point for such an initiative.  If you'd like to read more about my thoughts on Saturn in Sagittarius, click here to read more about my thoughts on Saturn's ingress into the sign of religion, philosophy and international relations.

Until next week,

May Jupiter's blessings be your constant companion,

Debra Anne Clement

Mars enters Pisces
Monday, January 12 at 5:21 AM EST

After spending close to six weeks fighting the good fight in Aquarius and being celebrated as a rebel with a cause, it was time for Mars to bid farewell to the sign of unpredictability and become acquainted with the sign of tranquility.  >>Read More.

The Meaning of Transiting Mars on a Personal Level

The house that Mars is visiting in your chart describes the life areas
where you may need to be more assertive, initiate some kind action or experience competition or a challenge to your ego.

You can refer to the 12 Houses column below to learn which life areas Mars in Pisces is energizing in your chart.  If you're not familiar with your natal chart, you can find out which house Mars  is visiting in your solar chart (this is Sun-sign based astrology) by locating your Sun sign in the list below.

The Significance

of Transiting Saturn
to Your Natal Sun

At some point during Saturn's journey through Sagittarius, it will make an aspect (contact) to your natal (birth) Sun; and since Saturn periodically goes retrograde (backwards) during this cycle, some of you will experience this contact three times.

Whether or not you will depends upon your Sun's degree at the time of your birth, as well as the nature of the aspect (contact) Saturn makes to it. And, yes, just like Saturn's cycle to your natal Saturn, it also depends upon what you've been doing up until now.

However, what makes it different is the Sun.

In astrology, the Sun represents the life force, and its sign, house location and aspects in your horoscope describe how and where you like to shine. It also represents your sense of willfulness, your general personality, overall temperament and, most important, who your ego thinks you are even if the rest of the world doesn't agree.

Consequently, when our Sun is aspected (contacted), we take it personally.
If your Sun sign is:

Sagittarius

Saturn will make an aspect known as a conjunction to your Sun. In other words, Saturn will be in the same sign and degree as your natal (birth) Sun. This aspect signifies beginnings and endings, which means that at this time you're wrapping up a 29 year cycle and starting a new one.

Based upon what you've been doing during the past several years, this period will be a time of achievement or a time of disappointment.

Either way you can expect to work hard and feel burdened.

Whatever is sound in your life will continue to go smoothy, but it will require continued, and considerable, effort to bring the win home. If this is your experience, conserve your energy and stay on course.  Don't let yourself be distracted or spread yourself too thin. Keep your eye on the prize and keep going towards it.

In contrast, whatever isn't sound may collapse, and you'll experience a personal and/or professional defeat. If this is your experience, it's critical that you understand what went wrong before you attempt to regroup. Otherwise, you'll invest your time, energy and resources into a losing proposition. As tough as it may be, a situation or relationship that has run its course may need to be released. If so, it needs to be done because as much as you may wish otherwise, it'll ultimately prove to be beyond repair.

No matter which side of this energy you experience, it's not uncommon to feel tired because Saturn (limitation) is bearing down on your Sun (life force). Although you'll need to work hard now, beware of overextending yourself and get sufficient rest; otherwise, the additional stress could contribute to health issues connected to the heart and circulatory system.

My Astro Advice:   One book at a time, one page at a time and you'll accomplish what
                              needs to be done.

Gemini

Saturn will make an aspect known as an opposition to your Sun, which means it will confront it with a hard beam of energy. This often coincides with being at a low-point in your life, one where you may feel physically drained and experience challenges in more than one area. You may very well find yourself at a crossroads that forces you to make a decision to release something or someone from your life. During this time, you're unlikely to make any headway because support is hard to fine; rather, it's a time to lay low and allow whatever or whoever needs to leave your life to do so. Be mindful of your stress levels, because if they become extreme you could suffer some type of physical breakdown.

My Astro AdviceSay your good-byes, dry your eyes and bide your time.
Better days and new opportunities will soon follow.

Aries and Leo

Saturn will make an aspect known as a trine to your natal Sun, which means it will send a surge of positive energy to it. During this time, an opportunity may present itself without much effort on your part.  Although it may seem like luck, in reality it's the result of your past efforts. Thanks to the easy flow of energy between Saturn and your Sun, you can make great strides during this period. The only downside of this influence is that you may feel so good that you don't take full advantage of it. Don't let feelings of satisfaction hold you back; the more you do now to strengthen your position, the stronger you'll be if and when challenges arise.

My Astro Advice:   It's time to build up support, accumulate resources and
                              line up your ducks.

Taurus and Cancer

Saturn will make a quincunx your natal Saturn, which means it will send a ray of uncomfortable energy to it. The quincunx is a minor aspect, which generally manifests as some type of temporary delay or annoyance. However, it often coincides with health concerns. Since it's the Sun that's being aspected (contacted), it's possible that stamina-related or heart-related conditions may arise at this time.

My Astro Advice:  If you're under the weather, see appropriate medical attention.
If not, just take it in stride; this too shall pass.

Virgo and Pisces

Saturn will make an aspect known as a square to your Sun, which means it will send a powerful blast of powerful energy to it that challenge you on several levels.

How you experience this energy will depend to a large degree upon what you've been doing (or not) during the past several years.

If you've been on the wrong path, it may be that your authority is undermined, your plans may be thwarted or you feel as though you're constantly swimming upstream.
Should that be the case and you suffer a setback, take the time to examine what went wrong before you start over so you don't repeat past  mistakes.

On the other hand, this very same energy can propel you to stardom.

I've seen it happen in the headlines, with my clients and in my own life. As Saturn squared my 9th house (law, publishing, coaching) Sun in April 1998, I published my first article in a highly respected legal journal. This same article was used to teach writing format to the newest law review students. In addition, I served as a writing coach and my student won first place in a national legal writing competition, and I represented my law school at a conference in Washington, D.C.

I reaped these rewards because of my prior decisions and actions, which included forgoing social plans and vacations in favor of working on these activities. Yes, I had talent but I still had to do the work, and the deadlines created more than a bit of stress.

So, if you're born under Virgo or Pisces, it doesn't mean that destined for a major ego blow or other type of crisis. Again, it depends on what you've been doing.

Finally, it's very important to pay attention to your health now, because if you've neglected it and try to burn the candles at both ends, your health may not hold up under this energy. Since the Sun is the target, the heart and cardiovascular system could suffer. If you feel dizzy or lightheaded, check your blood pressure. Such an experience would be an extreme manifestation of the energy, but I'd rather you err on the side of caution.

My Astro Advice:    If you crash and burn, try to mitigate the damage and reduce
                               your losses.
If you're on course, keep your head down and don't stop.
If you feel under the weather, seek appropriate medical attention.

Libra and Aquarius

Saturn will make an aspect known as a sextile to your Sun, which means that opportunities are likely to be plentiful, but you'll need to make an effort to find them and then work at developing them. This is an optimistic time when you could receive some recognition for past efforts that will make you realize your goal is within clearly within sight.  Keep in mind that what you do now will have a direct bearing on the future, so give it your all.

My Astro Advice:  Practice self-discipline and keep your eye on the prize.

Scorpio and Capricorn

Saturn will make a semi-sextile to your Sun, a minor aspect (connection) that's a topic of debate among astrologers when it comes to the nature influence. Some feel it acts as a minor irritant; others feel it offers mild support; and some say they're neutral. My experience is that while the aspect may not be neutral, any influence is usually overshadowed and neutralized by whatever major influence happens to be occurring at the same time.

Deb's Astro Advice:   Don't sweat it, because odds are you won't even notice it.

MONDAY, JAN. 12

Mars enters Pisces

See the article above.

TUESDAY,  JAN. 13

Venus sextile Uranus

Break free. The purpose of this particular influence is to encourage us to change our routine, move beyond our comfort zone and try something new.

If something new turns out to be someone new, the object of your affection is likely to be very different from the type of person you typically find attractive.

Although the nature of this energy is positive, it may not be long-lasting until there's also another more stabilizing influence to your chart.

WED., JAN. 14

Mercury sextile Uranus

Breakthrough!
If you've been struggling with any type of unresolved issue, today's energy may help you figure it out.

Although this influence is generally favorable, if you're not involved in a productive activity, you may feel a bit irritable. If that's the case, exercise or another form of physical activity will help to relax you.

THURSDAY, JAN. 15

Mars square Saturn

Hurry up and wait. When the planet of action starts elbowing the planet of caution, it's likely to end up with a very sore arm.

At this time, the desire to move forward is blocked by circumstances or authority figures.  If you continue to press forward now, your efforts are quite likely to be wasted, so you're better off waiting until Friday because by then this influence will have passed.
