Dear Stargazers,

I want to thank you for the wonderful response to last month's special offer (Your Mercury Story). I just sent out the last one today, so if you took advantage of this offer and didn't receive it, email me so I can resend it to you.

There's a lot to cover in this issue, including Mars (action, energy, anger, passion) retrograde in Aquarius. If you were born under an Aries Sun or with Aries rising, you'll feel it more personally because Mars rules the sign of the the Ram.

However, that doesn't mean the rest of us are off the hook. Mars will be backpedaling somewhere in everyone's chart. How might it affect you? You'll find that along with many more insights below.

BEST DAYS

While there are other days during this time frame that are fine, these are the best of the bunch. What do I mean by the best? The energy is flowing, the moon isn't void and there's a greater likelihood for happy and/or productive outcomes.

June 19, 20

BEST AVOIDED

The energies on these days aren't favorable for new ventures or any activity where you want or need a definite result. If you must schedule something, you may have to think on your feet, or there may be a need for patience or flexibility.

NOTABLE ASPECTS

For guidance about these aspects, visit Facebook or Twitter the day before the aspect. Why the day before? Because that's when the energy starts building and the influence starts making itself known. Once the aspect is exact, the energy is released and the influence fades.

TRANSITING NEPTUNE RETROGRADE
June 18 - November 24, 2018

In its highest form, Neptune is the planet of intuition, inspiration, and spiritual awakening and in its lowest form, it is the planet of illusion, confusion and deception. While Neptune is retrograde, it signals a time when we are being guided to distinguish between genuine vision and self-deception. >> Read More
TRANSITING SUN ENTERS CANCER
June 21, 2018 | 6:07 AM EDT

Here in the northern hemisphere, the summer solstice occurs when the Sun enters Cancer. As it does, it represents a mid-year point and signals a time for us to pause and consider how far (or not) we've come during the past six months. More specifically, did we accomplish any of our goals or did we just tread water?

Are we headed in the direction of our choice, or have we been drifting along, hoping that fate would intervene, sweep us up in a current and deposit us where we need to be. Just like mid-life, the summer solstice is a wake-up call that reminds us that while we still have plenty of time on the clock, it’s nevertheless ticking.

So take some time to evaluate your life as you’ve lived it so far this year. If you’re not satisfied, then resolve to make meaningful changes. With six months still ahead, there’s ample time for a new beginning and the achievement of some, if not all, of your goals.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CANCER

Your affectionate nature, nurturing spirit and unwavering belief that we're all connected is why everyone who crosses your threshold feels like a member of your clan. With open arms, a tender heart and soothing words, you're here to show us why there's no place like home.

MARS RETROGRADE
June 26 - August 27, 2018

At exactly 5:05 PM EDT on June 26, transiting Mars will station retrograde at 9°13' Aquarius, and it will continue to move backwards through the zodiac until it stations direct at 28°37' Capricorn at exactly 10:05 AM EDT on August 27.

Like all retrograde cycles, there's a potential upside as well as a potential downside, and like all transits, it's about making the most of the energy by working with it.

The Upside

This energy is best used introspectively. How so?

For starters, Mars is an ego-driven planet, so while it's retrograde, it's a good time to re-examine your sense of self (ego). Does it need to be tamed or does it need to be heard?

Mars also rules ambition, initiation and assertion, so this can be a productive time for reassessing your goals and how you pursue them, how you promote your own interests and your attitude towards taking leadership roles.

Since Mars rules anger, sexual desire and courage, this period favors re-examining how you express anger and physical intimacy. In terms of courage, it's a good time to reconsider whether you could use a bit more nerve or on the other hand, perhaps you need to reel it in.

The Downside

Since Mars is the planet of action, the retrograde can put a damper on self-motivation so don't be surprised if you find it harder to get things done. It's also the planetary ruler of objects that are sharp, hot, inflammatory or dangerous, so extra care should be taken when handling such items.

It also rules energy, so it's a good idea to check the strength of batteries in smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, cameras, digital recorders and any other important device. On a similar note, Mars rules motors and engines, so if your car battery is on the way out, the retrograde may hasten its death.

Also, when Mars (initiation, action, physical strength, sexual desire) is retrograde, it's considered best NOT to:

• Launch a new business
• Purchase a gym membership or start a new strength-building routine
• Begin a new sexual relationship
• Try a new barber or hairstylist
 Get a tattoo
• Start a construction or home improvement project
• Buy knives, scissors, firearms, power tools or products with motors or engines
• Undergo elective surgery

Why not? Because it's very likely that it won't take off or turn out according to our expectations.

To be more specific, astrological theory holds that:
  • If you launch a new business or other new venture during Mars retrograde (especially if you're not really prepared), you could end up with a false start on your hands.
  • When it comes to new barbers, hairstylists, elective surgery and getting tattoos, the hands of the person wielding the scalpel/scissors/needle aren't that steady.
  • As for home improvement projects, power tools and sharp objects such as nails/spikes/saws are likely to be weak or defective, and hired contractors may fail to finish the job in a timely matter (or at all).
  • In terms of new gym memberships and workout routines, especially those involving strength training, odds are high that you'll run out of steam and lose interest.
  • If you purchase new knives, scissors, firearms, power tools or products with motors or engines, they're more likely to be defective while Mars is retrograde.
  • Sexual relationships that begin under Mars retrograde are likely to be disappointing or short-lived.
The Reality

Life can't always stop for retrogrades. Sometimes we just have to go forward, and sometimes we just don't want to wait. Either way, this influence alone isn't enough to doom anything. Delay it, yes. Doom it, no. If an epic fail does occur during this time, you can bet there are more astrological challenges to your chart besides Mars retrograde.

On the flip side, you may be under some wonderful transits or be impacted by one (or more) of the summer's eclipses that could counteract, or at least mitigate, the retrograde energy.

And let's not forget about karma. If a new lover enters your life during Mars retrograde, trust me when I tell you that it isn't your first horizontal tango together. Whether you end up rekindling your love, settling an unresolved issue or even rejecting each other (again), this reunion is meant to serve a karmic purpose.

Last but not least, let's not forget free will. Whether you win or lose, in the final analysis you'll see that your free will played a role in the outcome.

Last Words

Retrograde transits are meant to get your attention, and their retrospective energies are meant to make you uncomfortable. If they didn't, you'd never take advantage of the precious gift these cycles offer you: A second chance to make something right.

FULL MOON at 6°28' CAPRICORN
June 28, 2018 | 12:53 AM
Washington, DC

Since this month's Full Moon in Capricorn is tightly conjunct Saturn, you can expect it to shed some light on a serious or important issue, coincide with a major decision or bring a matter to a head in connection with a domestic situation.

What do I mean by domestic situation? I mean any matter that involves your home and/or family. With Saturn (responsibility) conjunct the Moon (emotions), the issue may be an emotionally heavy one and its simultaneous opposition to the Sun suggests that no matter which way you go, either your wants (Sun) or your needs (Moon) will be disappointed.

For example, you may need to take on more responsibility for a parent or realize that your work obligations are creating a distance in your relationships. On the flip side, you may decide that your family obligations are holding you back in your career and it's time to firmly insist on help from them.

The opportunity in this full moon can be found in its trine (flow) to Uranus (change, freedom, new ways of doing things). Since this aspect is on the weak side (its energy is fading), it will require a conscious effect on your part to make the most of it. In that respect, you'll benefit from brainstorming ideas, tapping into your intuition and being open to new perspectives.
Getting Personal

A full moon occurs when the Sun and Moon form an aspect known as an opposition. The house that holds the Moon is where the action is in your chart, and something related to one (or more) of the life areas ruled by it may come to light, to fruition or to an end. Since a Full Moon falls across two houses, it's important to consider the life areas of the house that holds the Sun as well.

If you don't know which house holds 6°28 Capricorn in your horoscope, you can refer to the list below to find out where the full moon falls in your solar (sun-sign based) chart).

If your Sun Sign is:

Aries, the full moon falls in your solar 10th house of career, status and fame. Read the 4th house as well.

Gemini, the full moon falls in your solar 8th house of intimacy, other people's money and support, jointly-held assets and transformation. Read the 2nd house as well.
Cancer, the full moon falls in your solar 7th house of lawsuits and one-to-one relationships. Read the 1st house as well.
Leo, the full moon falls in your solar 6th house of work, health, service and pets. Read the 12th house as well.
Virgo, the full moon falls in your solar 5th house of romance, children, creativity. Read the 11th house as well.

Releasing with the Capricorn Full Moon

Once the full moon peaks and the matter is concluded, it's over and the next step is to release any attachment to it. That's why, the period of time between the full moon and the next new moon (the time while the moon is waning or disappearing from sight) is energetically ripe for releasing things from our life.

You can release anything under any full moon, but since this one is saturated in Capricorn energy, it's especially helpful for releasing:

Negative beliefs, fears or circumstances connected to parents, bosses, authority figures, ambition, achievement and your personal and/or professional status.

Traits or tendencies related to fear, melancholy, loneliness, depression, rejection, inhibition, greed, materialism, callousness, social climbing.

Closing Thoughts

My last memory of my father is of us laughing in my basement at the mess caused by a flood of water from burst pipe that literally caused part of the ceiling to come crashing down. Less than 10 hours after he left, the police called, and a few hours later he was gone. That was almost 26 years ago. It feels like yesterday and it feels like forever.

Why am I sharing this? Because in the past week I've come across his uncommon name in too many ways and on too many occasions to be a mere coincidence.
No, it's a message. It's his way of saying hello to me, and since he chose to do it right before Father's Day, I thought I'd acknowledge him here because I know he'll get a kick out of it.

So here's to you, Pop. Happy Father's Day, and thank you for the laughs you gave us, the toys you made us and the love you showed us. Born with the Sun at 29° Sagittarius, you never gave up hope of winning the lottery because like all Archers, you never believed in impossible dreams. P.S. The few  few bucks in the drawing on the day you died - thanks for that too!

Happy Father's Day to the rest of you as well.

May Jupiter's blessings be your constant companion,
