Subject: A Divine New Moon + Mini-Lesson + Forecast & More

Dear Stargazers,

Based on your emails, you enjoyed the first mini-lesson, so I've included another one in this issue. Going forward, you can expect to receive a free in-depth newsletter from me twice a month (every other Sunday). Along with articles and/or mini-lessons, each issue will include guidance to help you make the most of the upcoming planetary energies.

Since the next issue won't be out until November 6th, I want to talk about the first week of November now. The best days that week are November 1 (after 10:35 AM ET) and November 5 (all day). The 5th is especially favorable for romance. If a relationship has become complacent, a heavenly embrace between Venus and Uranus can help rekindle the spark.

If you need a definite result (e.g., you're asking for a favor or going on a job interview), the date to avoid is November 3 because the moon is void. However, November 3 is fine if you need to sit down and catch up on work, because an easy relationship between Mercury and Pluto will help you focus and plow through it.

Back to the present, the Sun recently entered Scorpio, and I've included a mini-forecast for those of you born under this magnetic, mysterious and fiercely determined sign. If your Ascendant (rising sign) happens to be Scorpio, it applies to you as well. Although the mini-forecast is for Scorpio, I invite ALL of you to read it because I'd like to know if this mini-forecast whets your appetite for a more in-depth 2017 forecast for your sun sign. If so, let me know!

Now for the best news of all: After months of turbulent lunar energy, there's a divine new moon on the horizon. There's much to cover, so let's get to it!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SCORPIO!

On October 11, 2017, Jupiter will enter Scorpio and begin a year-long goodwill tour through your solar first house of personal opportunities as it makes its way towards your Sun.

Why am I talking about something that's almost an entire year away? Because your coming solar year is one of transition and preparation, and what you do (or don't do) during the next 12 months will have a big impact on 2018.

Now, that's not to say you won't make any progress in 2017 (you will), but the fact of the matter is that 2017 is a bridge to a year that promises success for those who are prepared for it. That's why I want you to give serious consideration to the ways you'd like to see your life expand and the type of opportunities you need to attract to make it happen.

A few years back, you had the weight of Saturn on your Sun. Some of you felt defeated and had to start over, and some of you gained clarity and moved forward, but ALL of you had to work hard. Now it's time for some of that work to pay off.

With Neptune inspiring your Sun, it's time to envision the life you want to live, and with Jupiter expanding opportunities from behind the scenes in your 12th house, it's time to quietly lay the groundwork to help make it happen. I say "quietly" because it's important that you don't share your plans with everyone. (Most Scorpios don't but if there's a strong Libra or Sagittarius influence in your chart, you may tend to spill the beans). Why? Because if you bring 12th house plans out into the light of day, the energy tends to dissolve. That's why it's important to share your vision on a strictly need to know basis until Jupiter enters your sign on October 11, 2017.

Speaking of Jupiter, just a few months after it moves into Scorpio, life will get even sweeter. On December 20, the universe will hear a collective sign of relief from Scorpions everywhere as Saturn leaves your money sector. Until then, use this Saturn cycle to trim expenses, organize your finances and define your personal values. Determining who and what matters the most to you will fine-tune your vision and increase your power to attract it, while releasing what and who doesn't creates the void to accept it.

If you use the energy of your coming solar year to get your ducks in a row, you'll be ready to make the most of everything that Jupiter brings your way!
Venus in Sagittarius

After weeks of experiencing new depths of passion in the intensely emotional, highly complex and deeply secretive sign of Scorpio, Venus reached her saturation point. Like a moth that was dangerously close to a flame, she knew it was time to break free of the Scorpion's hypnotic spell; and with a stealth that would make Pluto proud, she quietly slipped out of the Underworld.
Mercury in Scorpio

After just slightly more than two weeks of Libra's lighthearted relationships and superficial discussions, Mercury craved something more substantial. Eager to indulge his curiosity and exercise his mental muscles, Mercury bid farewell to the sign of hospitality and flew straight towards the most mysterious, intense and calculating sign of the zodiac: Scorpio. >>Read More.
ASTROLOGY MINI-LESSON #2
THE QUALITIES

In Mini-Lesson #1, you learned that some of the zodiac signs shared the same element. To recap, the 4 elements and their members are:

Fire:     Aries, Leo, Sagittarius
Earth:  Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn
Air:       Gemini, Libra, Aquarius
Water:  Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces

Now, in addition to sharing an element, certain zodiac signs also share the same quality (also known as modalities or modes for short).

The Basics

There are 3 qualities: Cardinal, Fixed and Mutable

There are 4 signs in each quality, which is why they're also known as the quadruplicities (but qualities will do just fine).

Cardinal signs include Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn.
Fixed signs include Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius
Mutable signs include Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces.

Traits and Keywords

Each quality has its own temperament that includes positive and negative traits. The signs that belong to the same quality embody all of them, and through our free will we express those traits for better or worse.

CARDINAL signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) are action-oriented.

Keyword: Initiating
Positive:   Ambitious, pioneering, leadership, passionate, independent
Negative:  Bossy, inconsiderate, impulsive, abandon what they start

Each cardinal sign initiates a new season.

Spring begins when the Sun reaches 0° Aries;
Summer begins when the Sun reaches 0° Cancer;
Autumn begins when the Sun reaches 0° Libra;
Winter begins when the Sun reaches 0° Capricorn.

FIXED signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) are strong-willed

Keyword: Productive
Positive:  Determined, focused, thorough, stable, dependable
Negative: Stubborn, rigid, controlling, dogmatic

Each fixed sign is in the middle of a season.

Taurus is in the middle of spring.
Leo is in the middle of summer.
Scorpio is in the middle of autumn.
Aquarius is in the middle of winter.

MUTABLE signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) are versatile.

Keyword:  Versatile
Positive:   Adaptable, intellectual, intuitive, creative, congenial
Negative: Unreliable, deceptive, indecisive, restless

Each mutable sign closes a season

Gemini closes spring.
Virgo closes summer.
Sagittarius closes autumn.
Pisces closes winter.

Working with the Qualities

Even if you're not familiar with the traits of a person's Sun sign, being familiar with its quality can you an immediate glimpse into their nature. Just like the elements, every planet in the horoscope is in a zodiac sign, and every sign has a quality that influences its behavior.

Adding up the number of planets in each quality (and yes, you can include the Rising Sign) can provide significant insight, especially if a person is lacking a quality and/or has an overabundance of one.

For example, someone with 5 fixed planets is likely to resist change whereas someone with 5 mutable planets is likely to embrace it.

Like the elements, qualities can also be used as a starting point for analyzing planets in the horoscope. Again, every planet in the horoscope is in a sign, and that sign influences how the planet expresses itself (e.g., The Sun in Capricorn expresses itself differently than the Sun in Aquarius). Since each sign is influenced by its quality, that means the quality has some influence on the planet as well. Therefore, applying the quality's
keyword and traits with the nature of the planet provides additional insight into how that planet expresses its energy.

For example, if the planet is Mars (action) and it's placed in Capricorn, applying the keyword for the Cardinal element (initiating) tells you that the person tends to be a leader and would likely be interested in executive positions. If Mars is in Pisces, applying the keyword versatile tells you that the person tends to like variety and would be interested in positions that allow for creativity.

Again, this a very small part of the analytical process, but when you're learning astrology, the modalities can be very helpful. It's a very good starting point for beginners, and the best place to start is with the Sun.

So here's a fun exercise to help you master the qualities: Think about the people you know and see if their personalities reflect some of the traits of their sign's quality.

New Moon in Scorpio
October 30, 2016 at 1:38 PM
This month's powerful Scorpio new moon is the perfect antidote for the toxic energies that were introduced by September's explosive eclipses and reinforced by October's angry full moon.

Like all new moons, this one invites you to set intentions, plant seeds and initiate new actions; and just like every Scorpio new moon, it's saturated in transformational energy that promotes renewal. So what makes this new moon so special? Not a single planet is challenging it. This means that its transformative energy isn't being diminished by stressful connections and is completely supported.

In addition to supporting intentions for something new, the energy of the Scorpio new moon is especially helpful for planting seeds for change. As it happens, this new moon embraces Mercury (thoughts) and creates a planetary trio (sun, moon, mercury) that will help you clarify what you want to change and, more important, what you need to change. Even better, this planetary trio and Neptune (psychic, transcendence) are engaged in a flow of positive energy that inspires understanding through intuitive ideas and messages. Drenched in Scorpio's transformational energy, the insights you receive at this time are seeds for deep and lasting change that can lead to renewal in some area of your life.

There are two caveats for this new moon.

1.  Whether it's wearing a full moon or a new moon, Scorpio frequently demands that we release something. Full moons coincide with endings, so it makes sense to let something go at that time. This is a new moon, but whenever Scorpio is involved, so is transformation and/or rebirth. In order to be transformed or reborn, something has to die. So while a Scorpio new moon is about initiation, if there's anything that needs to be transformed or reborn in your life, you may experience some type of ending as well.

2.  You must consciously tap into this energy. Why? Because when all of the aspects (planetary connections) to the new moon are flowing as they are here, there's an ease to to the energy that promotes harmony but not motivation. Without a hard energy activating it, the positive energy will just sit there (so to speak) and feel good. Since there's no hard energy to do the job, you need to be the match that ignites this positive energy on your behalf.

Getting Personal

So which life areas are being targeted in your life by this new moon? They're revealed by the horoscope house that's hosting this new moon in your chart.

If you're not familiar with your natal chart, you can learn which house holds the new moon in your solar chart (this is Sun-sign based astrology) by locating your Sun sign in the list below.

If your Sun Sign is:

Aries, the new moon falls in your solar 8th house of intimacy, other people's money and support, jointly-held assets and transformation.
Taurus, the new moon falls in your solar 7th house of lawsuits and one-to-one relationships.
Gemini, the new moon falls in your solar 6th house of work, health, service and pets.
Cancer, the new moon falls in your solar 5th house of romance, children, creativity
Leo, the new moon falls in your solar 4th house of home, family, real estate, parents and intuition.
Virgo, the new moon falls in your solar 3rd house of siblings, short trips, transportation and all types of communications.
Libra, the new moon falls in your solar 2nd house of money, income, values and self-worth.
Scorpio, the new moon falls in your solar 1st house - it's all about you, including your approach to life and physical appearance.
Sagittarius, the new moon falls in your solar 12th house of solitude, secrets, past lives, healing and psychic abilities.
Capricorn, the new moon falls in your solar 11th house of goals, casual friends, colleagues and group relationships.
Aquarius, the new moon falls in your solar 10th house of career, status and fame.
Pisces, the new moon falls in your solar 9th house of foreign travel, higher education, legal matters and publishing.

Manifesting with the Scorpio New Moon

You can set any intention under any new moon but when it's in Scorpio, this new moon favors:

Actions, intentions and affirmations for new beginnings, renewal or lasting changes associated with sexual intimacy, physical healing/regeneration, psychological transformation, psychic development, loans, grants, scholarships, inheritance, estate and tax matters, mortgages, money that's owed you, income from franchises or intellectual property.

This lunar energy also supports intentions to find tax specialists, estate planners, researchers, pension specialists, investigators, estate planners, insurance experts, debt counselors, psychoanalysts, psychics, funeral directors and mortgage brokers.
