Dear Friend of America’s Survival:

Tonight’s edition of America’s Survival TV features Chicago police officer Martin Preib. We will be talking about the anti-police movement. Some protesters are now being sought for assaulting police officers in New York City.

The protests were led by Baruch College professor Eric Linsker, who tried to throw a metal garbage can over the bridge railing. His backpack was found to contain hammers. He has been arrested and charged. His attorney is Martin Stolar of the National Lawyers Guild.

Other topics are also on the agenda for tonight’s show.

Have you heard of the Medill School of Journalism “Innocence Project?” That’s an effort to undermine the criminal justice system by claiming that various people have been wrongly convicted of serious crimes. Preib counters that with the “conviction project,” an effort to keep guilty people in jail.

Preib runs the “Crooked City” web site, based on the book by the same name.

Tina Trent describes Preib as “a Chicago cop who exposes the dark underbelly of the ‘innocence’ industry, in which scores of law and journalism students and their professors resort to deception in their desire to play Atticus Finch to criminals who aren’t really wrongful convicted.”

Preib took on one of the Innocence Project’s first big wrongful conviction successes out of Chicago. It was the Anthony Porter case, a double murder in Chicago in 1982. He was sentenced to death row for the crime. The Innocence Project got someone else to confess to the murder, a man named Alstory Simon, and Porter was freed. The case led to a ban on capital punishment in Illinois. But Porter was actually guilty of the crime.

If this sounds like a mess, tune in tonight for the full story, and we will sort it out.

For background, please read Tina’s column, “Martin Preib versus the Innocence Industry.”

Don’t miss tonight’s show.
