Dear Friend of America's Survival:

I have reported a lot of bad news about the papal conclave. My new column, "Leftists Pray for Red Pope," will be posted shortly. It raises the specter of an advocate of Marxist-oriented "liberation theology" being installed in the Vatican as pope.

Meanwhile, there is some good news — a hardline conservative may be in the running for the job of pope. His name is Raymond Leo Burke. He is the former Archbishop of St. Louis.  He says Democrats are becoming the "party of death." He also publicly banned Catholic politicians who hold positions contrary to church teaching on abortion from receiving Communion.

Cardinal Burke

Here is what I am told from an inside source:

"Pope Benedict made him Prefect of the Apostolic Signatura several years ago.  Burke took a lot of heat from the U.S. Bishops for his hardline stance against pro-abortion Catholic politicians.  He was seen as too conservative, and his move to the Vatican was initially greeted with sighs of relief from the U.S. Bishops and liberal Catholics until it was revealed that he would become the equivalent of the Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court for the Vatican.  His name is one that has not been mentioned as one of the papibile.  The media ignore him like the ugly girl at the prom.  It makes me wonder if he is not really a stealth candidate."
