Dear Friend of America’s Survival:

University of Virgina student Otto Warmbier thought experiencing socialism in North Korea would be fun. He’s been sentenced to 15 years in the gulag for stealing a propaganda banner. Was he a Bernie Sanders-style socialist?

He said at his news conference, “Growing up in the United States I was taught that the DPR Korea is a mysterious isolated communist nation from education and mass media. This made an innocent-minded adventurous young man like myself want to show my bravery to improve my reputation and show a Western victory over the DPR Korea. I was told by colleagues that North Korea is a beautiful country with great architecture and that if I was interested in communist nations I needed to consider a visit.”

Watch the video of his “confession.” Watch this kid grovel to the communist slave-masters. He’s a complete embarrassment. He blames “the United States administration” for his visit and theft of a propaganda banner. He should take his punishment like a man. Instead, he acts like a communist dupe. “Please, act to save me,” he says to the communists. “My mother needs me. My father needs me.”

The “Free Speech Wall” in Charlottesville, Va.

Is this typical of what our colleges are producing? He is a pathetic excuse for an American. The kid was a third year student at the University of Virginia.

The crying part comes at about the 35 minute mark. He bows at regular intervals to show his respect to the communists.

I obviously don’t believe the kid should be imprisoned. But I think he got himself in trouble, apparently because he didn’t understand the nature of a communist regime, and is now suffering the consequences.

Did he think communism was just an alternative lifestyle? Where did he get that idea? Did he believe that nonsense because socialist Bernie Sanders seems like such a likable old man?

I‘ve written a column about the case:

Free Otto Warmbier!

I am urging Bernie Sanders to demand Warmbier’s freedom.

A group called U.Va. for Bernie Sanders sponsored a community rally for Sanders at the Freedom of Speech Wall on the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Perhaps they ought to rally on behalf of their comrade Otto Warmbier
