ADFF Newsletter 09.04.2013

The Architecture & Design Film Festival is excited to kick off its 5th season of films October 16 – 20 at Tribeca Cinemas in New York City.

Once again we will have more than 30 films from around the world. The films selected for this year’s festival explore a wide range of topics, including the work of urban designers such as Jan Gehl and William Whyte and visionary architects such as Antoni Gaudi, Tadao Ando, Luis Barragan, Richard Neutra, Walter Gropius and Paolo Soleri.

ADFF's line-up will include films on a variety of subjects - architectural studio culture, design/build education, historic preservation...even on the design process of a fashion designer and a sculptural artist. The modernist architecture of places as diverse as Moscow and Cape Cod will also be on tap. In addition, festival viewers will get the chance to see an unusual film on an architectural mystery in Buenos Aires related to Dante! The full line up will be announced on Sept 10th.
ADFF continues to be involved with a variety of other events this fall.
On Sept 26th, ADFF will be one of the supporters of a fundraiser for the 14+ Foundation co-founded by ADFF advisory board member Joseph Mizzi, whose mission is to develop and build schools and orphanages for African children in rural communities. Their first project is the Chipakata Children's Academy in Zambia, Africa. The benefit will be on Thursday, Sept 26th (event details can be found at www.chipakataevent.org). We hope you will consider attending what promises to be an inspiring event for a profoundly worthy cause.  more info on 14+ Foundation

One of last year’s opening night films, Design Is One: Lella and Massimo Vignelli will have its theatrical release at IFC Theatre in NYC on Oct 11th. If you missed it last year, here is a great opportunity to see it or let your friends know about this terrific film.  more info

This year we have a long list of great sponsors. Without their generous support, the festival would not be possible – Thank you!!!
